HPV

In passing I ask my private doc about this.

Immunization is just being rolled out in several countries to 17 year olds, Canada, Australia.  Apparently lots of bros in HK are apparently getting on board too.

Pitch the doc told me was that you can get this even from HJ and protected sex   Damnitisnothingsafe and that 30% of sex workers have it.  15% the warts variety, 15% the cervical.  Transmission odds of 10% even with condom.  If you get it 10% chance that it is persistant lasting more than 6 months.

Actually these numbers don't make sense to me.  If a WG is going through 25-50 guys a week and the transmission is so likely there would be a lot more chat about it on this site and more than 30% of sex workers would have it.

But anyway why take the risk.  So got the first shot.  Not cheap 3800 HKD for all three, 1st now, 2nd in 2 months, 3rd after 6 months.

Also testing for it is false comfort, if the test (which costs 750 HKD) comes back ok you may still have it as it may be on a different part of the skin.

Same virus, different presentation.

The US FDA approved Gardasil for use in men in October 2009. Before then, men received it only off-label.

Protection is known to last only a few years (3-5), but that's only that's how long the vaccine has been around, and of course that's a "confidence interval" figure, so YMMV. The point is, it's unfortunately not a once-in-a-lifetime vaccine, but something you need to get repeatedly during your sexually active life.

Best to get it early. FDA says under 26 yo, because most people over 26 have already been exposed to HPV.

Lots more info if you Google.

Let me know if I'm wrong, but I believe this doesn't negatively affect males.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, an ex of a friend of mine contracted it, and he had regular sex with his ex.  He still did not contract the disease through use of safe sex practices.  Not to say that there is zero risk of getting it, but still, if you're interested in the hobby I wouldn't recommend you stop.  It kinda comes with the territory.

It would be tough to explain to the SO why she has HPV though no?  That is one worry.

I have read that there have been a recient rise of HPV and Throat Cancer in Men due to Oral Sex. There is a direct correlation between the two.

Also one of the many reasons I don't DATY with Providers.
