all you can eat lobster??

hey bros,

i'm coming to Hong Kong in March... in addition to mongering and part of the indulging aspect,
are there any places that offer "all you can eat" lobster? or even king crab legs for that matter?
it seems that Hong Kong and Macau are among the culinary capitals of the world, and who else
would know better about indulging themselves more than the boys who have the sweetest hobby?

you must be north american ... over here its quality rather quantity
Most hotel restaurants have buffets but its a whole spread of everything, not just lobsters /crabs
and if you go there and hog them other customers will fight to grab them !!!

yup, canadian actually...
i'm usually about quality of the food too, but lobster being particularly expensive over here
I have to de-civilize myself and try to get as much as I can if it is cheaper in HK

If you are lucky the buffet will have seafood, even then it will go like hot cakes. You could try some of the outlying islands like Lama and Cheung Chau. I've tasted some of the best sea food on the islands. Just my 2 cents.

they don't have the $6CDN/lb. lobsters at the restaurants in HK like they do in Canada.  The SO and I got suckered into one of those in Vancouver one time - didn't realize that the damn lobster was 8 lbs.  Would have been worth it though if there were 4 of us.

I take that back, it was crab not lobster. I'm sure it's seasonal, but the last time that I was in Vancouver, which summer of 2008, many of the larger Chinese restaurants in the greater Vancouver were advertising $6-$9/lb. for Alaskan king crab, which can easily be 8 to 10 lbs.

Todai restaurant, which is an Asian gourmet buffet restaurant, used to have lobsters available - I would eat like 5 or 6 tails.  Not good for a person with high cholesterol like myself.  Anyhow, they abandoned the all-you-can-eat lobsters a couple of years ago.  However, Todai does have a restaurant in HK - at the basement of the Miramar Hotel building.  Perhaps they do have the unlimited lobsters there.  The last time I was there was 5 months ago, but it was for lunch, and they don't serve lobsters at lunchtime.  More costly than in the US - I think the buffet price is around $250HK.  Plus the location is very convenient to a lot of HG and WG.

Hmm...if they closed it must have been in the last few months.  I still see the restaurant up on their website:   http://www.todai.com.hk/price.htm

Their dinner price is $298HK, a bit more on the weekend.

Buffet "gourmands!"

Todai all over the place, Las Vegas hotel buffets, Mid-west "smorgasbord" restaurants, Richmond BC "all you can eat," Hong Kong hotel buffets, even that shenzhen  RMB128 all you can eat Japanese.

I've always hated going to these places - but some people DO love them and thus I sometimes reluctantly do go along.  But OMIGOD - the gluttonious excesses, the ignoring of one's own capcity/health, any sembalnce of balance between quality and quantity ......  and the WASTE!

IMHO - all these all you can eat places have no place in the world we live in.

if you want all you can eat lobster, goto chile. my mate was telling me that lobster,in my money, $5AUD/plate and his wife got atlantic salmon for $3/plate. yet beef was like 3-4 times more. the locals apparently love beef more than seafood, they don't realise how good they've got it there

If I recall correctly, Spasso in Harbour City have a buffet, and the buffet includes lobsters / crayfish / oysters / etc.

I went to a buffet at the Shangri-La and they had all you can eat lobsters.  They were pretty sweet and besides the lobster they had a pretty big assortment of hot foods, and sushi and sashimi.  I believe the hotel was located in Admiralty.  Check it, I go there every time I visit HK.
