Li Na's done China proud!

China on the ascendancy - and I'd venture to speculate that we should be seeing more and more of these "world class" achievements by The Chinese - not only as a function of the very large number of Chinese there is (and the talent therein), but also because China nowadays can really afford to groom talent.

I've got a friend in Beijing and his major accomplishment was the technique and equipment to take high definition movies of swimmers under water - and that was in the sixties, when he was commissioned to do so in order to learn the swimming techniques of visiting star swimmers.

He has been specifically and richly honored for having contributed to the National Dvelopment of Sports in China. This honor, plus the fact that the Chinese Government would even actually make the filming of swimming technique a national project - even as far back as the sixties - shows me how seriously they regard Sporting accomplishments - and thus the glee and joy so expressed on Li Na's accomplishment.

Good on her!

Yeah, congrats to Li Na, she deserve to win in Paris.

I was a bit worry that she wasn't enough focus at the end of the 2nd set and almost give the 2nd set to Francesca, but she was great on the tie break!
