Zune HD vs Potentially new iPod Touch

so i just found out on the net that the new Zune HD will be launching in the states as of September 15th and you can pre-order it already online
but then again it still seems to me that Apple still has an edge over microsoft

so what are your thoughts on this one? and which would you prefer given that is Apple does release a new iPod touch?

Apple iPod Touch wins hands down. The Zune has been a failure from the start. Thetouch has one of best touch screen interfaces and the app store to have unlimited supply of programs and games. The Zune only unique features are HD radio and HD output.

The only thing that the Zune could compete if it was massively priced lower than the Touch.

Thanks for the reply guys, i guess i'll just have to wait abit longer for the new ipod touch if it does come out and it is quite true that most of the stuff microsoft releases are pretty buggy at times

once again many thanks for the input

there is also one more thing the ipod have over the zune, imo is the best feature is the apps. if you are looking for just a regular mp3 or video play then it shouldn't really matter i'm pretty sure both sound and look the same. it the extra things that pushes ipod over the zune

Give me a break! Apple products are notoriously buggy. Just do a web search on 'Apple hardware problems'! Bad batteries, wireless chipsets malfunctioning, tons of LCD display bugs - the list is endless. I've owned two Apple products in my life and both (that's 100%) self destructed. My first laptop was an Apple and the screen literally cracked in two along the seam. I bought a 1st generation iPod and the battery lasted all of 4 mths. I too think the iPod Touch is a better piece of kit than the Zune, but don't tell me that Apple products don't have their problems. The Apple forums are full of pissed-off people complaining about shit product and bad service.

(Edit: I just read an article on the new Zune due out next mth. If you want it primarily for audio/video playback, the Zune might be the better device. However if you need all the apps, the iPod Touch looks unbeatable. Tho, maybe Apple plans to release an updated version to upstage MS.)

Hmmm...bet you there are more people who hate/anti Microsoft than Apple.

That said, I agree with you that apple customer service sucks & are very mechanical

That's because far more people use MS products than Apple. And then there is the religious devotion that Apple fanboys bring to anything touched by the sacred hands of Steve Jobs. Among Apple users, bad-mouthing Apple product in public is considered disloyal; which is why if you really want to know what's going on from the product reliability side of things, you have to check out the Apple forums. I know devout Apple users who, when cornered, will admit that a good rule of thumb is never buy a 1st-generation Apple device.

Look, I think Apple is a great company that makes great things. I'm looking forward to a future Apple ebook reader. However, Apple users need to cool it with this dumb 'all MS products are crap and everything Apple is a work of genius' world-view. If MS stuff was as bad, and Apple stuff as good as the fanboys say, MS would have gone bankrupt ages ago; when in fact, most Windows users are like me and never experience any of the problems Apple people seem to think are epidemic on the Windows side.
