Sounds like the guy had a crap time but he was only "scammed" out of 150 baht. Probably not going to break the bank and he got to have a roll around with a pretty young girl.

I do agree that Billboards is the most pushy Gogo in Nana Plaza followed by Spanky's and Angelwitch.

I tend to spend 45 minutes to an hour there sitting next to the Jacuzzi talking to the girls. The Mamasan will hound you for drinks and even if I am only half way through a beer or vodka she will ask if you want another one. I will always buy one girl a drink early which makes the mamasan focus on other bros sitting around the Jacuzzi not spending a cent.

I believe Billboards has introduced or tried to introduce a 2 drink minimum for the girls.

I don't frequent Billboard often but when I go there I am prepared to spend a bit of money for the entertainment. My favorite Gogo in Nana Plaza is Sexy Night. It is small, plays old school rock songs, you can request songs for free (Angelwitch makes you buy the DJ a drink for a song or two) and the girls are good fun. Yes, they ask for drinks but that is how they make a living.

Attached is some pics of the Jacuzzi at Billboards. To complain about 150 baht for this entertainment is laughable in my opinion.

I think they do charge you 2 drinks if you have a girl come talk to you or you BF them. One other interesting thing from his report is that he went to a ST hotel, but then paid for a taxi. I know there is a ST hotel in NEP, but I guess he didn't use that one. But if he found one close by no need for $200 taxi. I mean, I guess he could tip and I do sympathize for the girls, but if your club puts me off and you don't give great effort, then why am I tipping?

From the link bkk gogos sound awful.  Last time I was in bkk (a yr ago) I had to pay a 2 drink min lady drink.  Can’t remember the gogo, but it was cowboy.

That's just what the guy wrote about one specific evening pre-COVID. I wasn't there, and I don't know what go-gos are like now, but apparently Billboard (and Butterflies) are owned by the same group and were popular.

They're not getting tourists now, just expats, and (again reportedly) they're continuing with double-lady-drinks, mamasans inserting themselves into client-provider transactions, etc. One might think that they'd be more attentive to customer service as there are fewer customers and without visitors, they would want to court regulars. But...well, as I say, I dunno.

As for bill padding, that's been going on for decades. If in a Bangkok strip club, always pay the bill at the end of EACH round. As you know the phrase in "check bin": that means "check the bill" so check. The. Bill.

I think what likely set him off was this line:
"As soon as the door to our room was shut, [she] asked me "You have ice or c*caine?"."

This isn't a red flag, this is a 120 dB klaxon going off next to your ear. Say what, girl? You're asking me if I have these substances currently in my possession?

At this point, the guy's cash is in the mamasan's pocket, it's gone. And the ST hotel fee. But if I was in that situation, I would have marched her back to the bar. I know men who have done exactly that. Some have gotten partial refunds, but nothing is guaranteed. Caveat emptor.

It's completely out of order for a WG to make such a statement, and the establishment that employs her should be made aware of it. If some punter makes a critical error in that situation, and things escalate, he's going to tell the cops the name of the bar. They may be interested, they may not be interested, but that's neither here nor there. Think about it.

A statement like that means a U-turn right back to the bar. If money's been spent, cut your losses. This is one advantage to using one of NEP's ST hotels--as obe noted, there are several. I don't know how many remain open but I imagine there's at least one still operating.

I'm just riffing here but there are things and there are things. And one thing you want to avoid in Thailand is anything to do with the substances this WG allegedly mentioned. I would not even respond, just straight back to the bar. She will immediately know why. No need to explain.

Here's the thing: for anomalies like me who don't actual drink and don't like noisy bars, is there a place in Bangkok that offer girls of a calibre in the pictures and I don't have to go through this bullshit of buying drinks. I'd rather pay a premium and get straight to business.

There are options. It depends what kind of experience you want.

There are shophouse massage places and nuru massage parlors. Escort services that deliver. These are service-oriented places so you may not find beauties quite like the pix.

If optics are what you seek, you can consider gentleman's clubs which are pricier and more of a hostess club environment. Or you can try some of the higher-end nuru places like Momo which advertises young cuties, see if anyone tickles your fancy.
