Hello?  Any Americans out there?  What happened this month?  Backpage.com has been closed and so has Nightshift.com - 2 of the most popular prostitution sites in the San Francisco area.  So I had over $1,000 on the books @ Backpage.com for advertising.  I hadn't used it for years but I'd occasionally check to see if it was still there.  It was until this month with the closures.

So how are the ladies going to advertise in California now?
Is the rest of the USA not affected?  
What sites are operational in California?
What sites are running in the rest of the USA?

I've been backpacking around the world for the past 2 years so I'm out of touch.

POTUS signed the bill FOSTA/SESTA, a law intended to curb sex trafficking.  it also creates an exception to section 230 that means website publishers would be responsible if third parties are found to be posting ads for prostitution - including consensual sex work - on their platforms.

google fosta/sesta and you see over 7,780,000 results.

many sites are closed and moved or if your ip address is usa it will be blocked like TER.

the following places i go for reviews in usa.
1. BP - closed.
2. TER - U.S. reviews shut down/removed.
3. TNA - reviews removed.
4. Spahunters - closed.
5. utopiaguide.com moved to utopiaguide.pl and it is up and running.
6. CL - closed.

lucky 141 is open to all so far but i hope they not doing the same as TER where USA ip address is being blocked.

Thank you for your thorough reporting.  I might as well add in my once-in-a-while go-to of usasexguide is also shut down; its international sister site is still running though.

It's a hit and miss.  Some websites that have originated from foreign IP are still usable and accessible in America.  For instance, this site and smooci.com

However, others like TJamigos (Mexico) and ClubHombre (Latin America) can no longer to accessed.

Come to think of it.  Where is the server for this site?

Just in case you haven't seen my reply in the Rating, when this all kicked off a couple of weeks ago the Mods asked for confirmation on where the site is hosted and it was confirmed that it is not the US.

I am no internet genius or IT wiz so not saying more than what Admin says is that no data from this Forum is being held on servers physically in the US.

This doesn't mean that secondary searches on things like Google don't hold data after the search though these are only search researchs and not pure data and its source location - ie from which IP address the data was received on the Forum server.  There are ways to mask your IP such as VPNs or use of other search engines as explained earlier in the thread.

From my industry, I know that the country hosting the servers does not have a good relationship with US data providers and the US government controls on them even given their geographical proximity. ie in the country hosting the Forum servers Government Depts including primary suppliers or industries which have governmental regulatory control (telecom, utilities etc) are not allowed to use (including their outsourced providers) things like AWS or Google Cloud the unless the physical servers are in their country with no redundancy fall back into US controlled servers.

You IT geeks can correct me if I am wrong but this was certainly the case no less than 18 months ago and I can't see it having changed.

Note this is not a definite statement, just answering agamemnon's question in ask much detail as I have.

My concern is, whenever I would use CL for a potential meet up, there was always so many LBs on there, now where are they going to go....? hopefully not the bars!!

I work in Wanchai and look at WeChat regularly. I thought it was my imagination, but I'm sure there are more and more LBs offering their services on there (as well as Line). People need to make a living, so they'll find a way, even if it's just outside Taboo.  

Did anyone notice if there was increased traffic in the bars this weekend or since the shutdown?
