A few weeks ago I had my first visit to the Land of Smiles, sadly not for nearly enough time to explore the city's offerings as I would have liked, but nonetheless managed to break away from the ball and chain for a few hours one evening and jumped straight into the first available taxi to rush me to where the action was.

My driver knew exactly what I was looking for and offered to take me to a place that he recommended - lots of beautiful women, he told me, and full service for 4,000 baht. I declined, preferring the wisdom of the Forum and wanting to minimise my risk of being scammed.  But before I knew it, he'd pulled up in an alley and was encouraging me to get out and go for a look in this establishment.

I decided a quick look wouldn't hurt and went in the front door.  Immediately in front of me was a mesmerising sight - literally hundreds of women sitting around in benches, some women in their twenties, some perhaps in their forties.  To the other side of this large, open hall there were some of those large, reclining massage chairs and a few ladies apparently serving a few customers there. But being on my own, not knowing where I was or how I'd get back to my hotel later, I turned and left and jumped back into the cab and asked him to drop me at Soi Cowboy.  It wasn't far, I'd say well within 1km.

My question is, what is the scam here and how close did I come to being beaten, robbed, and left to explain my sorry state to Her Indoors - or did I miss out on a great Thai experience?!

Risk to be beaten and robbeb by a taxi driver in BKK are very very low.
Anyway never follow the driver suggestion about P4P places coz usually these places sucks and you will pay high price for bad service and bad looking girls, and he will get the commision.
You not need a driver's help in Thailand for find some sex, everythings is under your nose and all infos are on the web. Many places are reachable with public transport (BTS and MRT).

Interesting. I've never heard of a place in BKK with "Literally Hundreds of women". Can you provide some other details? I agree that it's never a good idea to just rely on a Taxi Driver's drop off as they will get commission and whatever from the establishment without any regard to your experience. But i'm intrigued as to what this place he took you is.

I assumed that the commission for the driver was a given, and that a house that relies on erratic business like that rather than a steady stream and good reviews must have inflated prices and bad service.

In China you hear stories of guys following touts into massage / KTV joints, then after some bad sex get threatened by a couple of well built thugs and shaken down for one or two thousand USD. But if I exaggerated the number of women there, there were still plenty, at least 50.  What kind of expensive way is that to run that kind of scam?!

I didn't get the name or any more details of the place, I only stood inside max 1 or 2 minutes and scarpered.  I have a feeling it was only a few streets to the north of Soi Cowboy but I could be completely wrong.
