Hkia to Macau

I can't seem to find my answer on the forum.

Anyone know if we fly into HKIA , can we enter the main arrival terminal area to buy stuff (sim cards) and then use the ferry to Macau.   It seems like the boarding of the ferry is in the departure terminal or I could be wrong.

Trying to just leave from HKIA but I need to get some stuff at the airport.  I actually just need to get to an ATM and withdrawal HKD and get a SIM card that allows me to use in china as we plan to goto CP from Macau.

I believe if you enter main arrival terminal, you cannot go back inside.  Boarding ferry terminal is inside departures.  Not sure whether there are ATM and shop to buy sim, but you can always wait until you get to Macau.

There are ATMs in the departure area of HKIA, and the SIM card can be obtained in Macau if you like. I don't think you can re-enter once you have gone through immigration.

There are many ATMs in Macau too, but I have had difficulty using them with my US-based bank cards. I did find one that worked in Wynns though. You can get HKD from the Macau ATMs.

If you get money from an ATM in Macau, you better check with the bank first. Each bank  might be different and it might NOT be HKD.
It might be in Macau dollars. The same with China.ATM's it will be RMB.

There are a few ways you can get to CP from Macau, ferry or bus. By bus you have go from Zhihai to CP.
Note, there are 3 bus stations at Zhuhai border.  I have taken it a few times but it has been a few yrs.
This bus goes the other bus station that is in CP and NOT to the bus station that is near the train station.
The frist time I took this bus I was completely lost with my luggage. At the last stop was told to get off. The area was not the same station as the one near the train station in CP.  I then walked about a block until I saw some CP buses that I recognized, I think was number 2,2A and others.  It's their last stop.  Took a bus into Miraton Hotel area.  It took about 15 mins.  Price 2 rmb.

For convenience cause it seems like they are in a bigger group with luggage, it is a better idea to take a ferry to Kowloon from Macau and then go to Hung Hom Terminal to take the train directly to CP.

Actually that might work better , does the vendors at Shan tuk sell pkgs that incl hotels stay too?  Not sure if we should just wait till we get there that night or book some hotel in advance.

Those are different questions. My impression was that you're going to Macau directly from Airport which means you will not go to Shun Tak rendering your question moot.
