Mainland raids

Hi,

My friend in China told me usually the "raid season" happens before the major event, like national day, "three-meeting" and etc.
Is that true?

I'm planning to go CP in March 2014, and that is the time of the "three-meeting".
Has anyone go there in March before? Appreciate the advice and experience sharing. Thanks guys.

It is true that the number of raids tend to increase just before a major event.  The odds of getting caught in a raid go up slightly, but is still very small.

Mostly what happens is that for a while you may find some establishments closed, or more likey restricted.  If you have a manager's number they will usually let you in.  If you walk in off the street you may get told the location is closed.

Is there any local news site or PRC forum which post the day-to-day SZ/DG/CP updates/news?
Perhaps that can give us a hint on the "alert level" and what is the LE up to.

Sorry No way for DAILY updates or News !!!!  Unless you have a close relationship with higher up LE, nobody has a clue..Sorry dude.....

If you speak Chinese, maybe a police scanner might help.  Don't know if you can scan police frequencies in China to listen.

LE can come up from the locals LE, or from another district, or even from Beijing.  I was told by my friend some girls told him, that the LE once came from Beijing to CP one day after it happened.
