Manila accomodation and tips

I'm in the first stages of planning a trip for late in the year.  I'd like to know if anyone has experience with or can recommend a budget hotel/motel, I think they call them pension houses over there.  I'd like something affordable, I don't mind if it's old or run down as long as it's safe and "guest" friendly.  So far I've looked at Tune and Sofitel and a few other smaller boutique hotels but none of them seem that great for the price which is why I'd prefer something like a pension house.

Based on my map, Makati, Ermita and Binondo are the locations I know are close to the airport, I'm open to other suggestions as long as it's not too far from the airport.  Any input or help getting me in the right direction would be appreciated. Thanks.

Some of the small cheap places don't advertise much on the internet.

One thing that I noticed is that I have booked into a more expensive hotel, then when walking around the neighbourhood found a lot of smaller places that are probably cheaper.

You might want to consider just booking into a hotel found online for a night or two and then find a cheaper place on foot.  I was in the Best Western Oxford Suites which worked well for me.

Another option is google streetview.  I'm not sure whether they have done Manila, but by going to google maps and dragging the little man icon onto P Burgos Street I got a lot of paneramio pics, including this set
https://ssl.panoramio.com/photo/76503989

You may be able to find cheap places this way as well.  But if it were me, I'd like to be able to look at the room first.

Another option is to purchase a rough guide at a bookstore.  They usually index the low priced accomodations.

That's what I was thinking as well, I'll book a half decent place for two days or so and look around. Read your other report as well, good stuff.

Any other info on mongering in the city? Locations for bars and casa's and that sort of thing?

I only mongered on P. Burgos street in Makati.  That taxi driver took me to a casa but I don't know the location.  I do have the taxi driver's FB so if you want PM me.  But seriously - all taxi drivers know where the casa's are.

As far a P.Burgos, Rogue's is about the cheapest, both for Lady drinks and barfines.  They also have really hot waitresses, who are also available for takeout - with a higher barfine.  I was sorely tempted by one of them.  I also liked the bar because they aren't shy to rub themselves all over you in your seat.

I also enjoyed the bar across the road from my hotel.  I forget the name but checking out the website http://burgosstreet.net I presume it is Dimples bar.  I had a 2-hour dry hump and DFK with a gal in that bar while waiting for Bianca to arrive.  If she had been a no-show, this one would have been my plan B.  Beware the older GRO's who help you find the cuties but then expect lady drinks all evening.

WoW sucks.  The girls seem OK, but bored and the place has a bit of a depressing feel about it.  It just seemed that everyone was at work - they weren't having fun.

This thread was useful as well:
http://forum.sex141.com/eforum/v ... ghlight=philippines

I did try going to the Greenbelt 3 mall and looking for WG's however didn't see any.  Maybe it was the wrong time of day (late afternoon)

As far as social media, if you play on dateinasia and tagged and wechat you'll be overwhelmed with prospects.  But it's not really necessary - hot women just seem to be dropping from trees in .ph

I'm not sure, but the whole street is only a 10 minute walk or so.

As far as prices, I think lady drinks are not the double variety, so about 160 and I think barfines were quoted at 1600.  It was two weeks ago, I didn't bar fine from there, and there was a lot of action subsequent so my memory is fuzzy.

All I remember is that I didn't break the bank at that bar, which was a nice change.

I believe the waitress barfine was about 2400.  I negotiated hard but they wouldn't budge.  I was going to go back to my hotel for more cash but it was pouring with rain so I didn't return.

Nice. I think I've been to Dimples when I was in Manila over 10 years ago, that time we had a local guide us around, I'll be sure to hit it up again if I get the chance.   Do you happen to know if 1600 you quoted for these bars is for short or long time, what do you get in bar for ladies drinks?

I did read about La Cafe/MBC on another site, i don't know if you guys are aware but seem like the go to place for freelancers and even has lots of traffic in the early 9-12noon hours.

As far as casa's and taxi drivers, are they generally reliable and safe? I would hate to be taken into some type of trap and get into a knife fight with locals, or even worse, arrested and extorted by thel police.

@ cookiemonster, do inform us of your experiences locally. thanks.

Rogues was the odd one out with a discount barfine.  The other bars on the street have a barfine of about double that.  Technically the girl is supposed to get part of it, but they always want more. At Ivory I was told that was the bars share and I had to pay the girl separately.

P. Burgos St is one of the more expensive places to punt - from what I've been told the EDSA entertainment complex is cheaper.

If you are punting on Burgos, I  would suggest Rogues has the best prices.  The girls on the stage weren't the best of the street, but the waitresses were pretty damn hot.

As far as Dimples, I think the bar fine was 3000 but there was a half price happy hour special.  So if you get there before 8 you can get a good deal.

But again - don't take these prices as guaranteed.  A lot of beer has been poured between my visits there and now.

Find cheap places in philippines is easy. Just talk to the cab Driver. Safety is any issue their not from sex workers or normal people but from cops and barangay officials. Dont buy drugs on a street. Dont go alone to strip bars unless you have ben their before. Best places to get girls is in malate near havana cafe. You can also find good cheap hotels there. Malate is close to the airport too and have good party life. Most strip joints r in cubao but dont go alone. I used to get best deals from dutch company http://www.filipinotravel.com.ph/. good luck.
Friendly advise manila sucks everywhere outside is good.

i concur with your comments about manila. i've been in manila since last sunday and i'm not that too crush hot traveling on my own - the locals like to stare. i stand out like dog ballz with tourist tattooed on my forehead. good thing is that i'm not the tourist type and don't venture far from my hotel room. my hotel provides ample security and all guest are registered. 'unofficial' guests check's in with id and you receive a courtesy call when the leave for confirmation - no matter how late. not to mention the security checks at all major complexes such as shopping centres and casino.

as for burgos, venturing alone is not too bad. treat it like a band-aid, take a deep breath and 'let-er-rip!' the bouncers will usher you in swiftly and the manageress will welcome you with open arms. there is no entry-fee as such, but you are expected to buy a drink (for yourself to start) once you are seated. this is when the succubus will commence sucking you dry - ladies will flock over like moth to a flame; lady drinks... softies starts from 80p and it goes up from here; however, lady drinks sky rockets from 300p (non-happy hour). one must be careful here as an evening could easily lose control and find a nasty surprise before the end of the evening.

this is a deliberate tactic; its like when you were younger and everyone would crowd around the new guy and everybody is trying to figure each other out. the ladies are like vultures, circling the poor unfortunate, waiting for their next meal scoring commission from lady drinks. they're vicious (in a nice way), those that missed out on lady drinks will ask for 'tips' (100p) [which is really their cut from the lady drinks, rather harsh, i know]. the lady drinks are deadly, half the quantity and half the potency but twice/trice the price!!!

my bill was easily over 1000p per bar (whilst bar hopping). i started from the start of the street at rouge and worked my way up the street (i skipped a few only entering establishments which 'looked' inviting - skimpy bar maids flashing their goodies). i had a different agenda than most haunting burgos, i was on a mission to find a gem for take out.

moral of the story, be careful at the watering hole or you could be fleeced of your hard earn doe. choose your company well and early to grind with or you will be left wondering how you racked up an astronomical bill with no happy ending!

DGS warned me the evening i planned for burgos as sunday was long weekend and most were shut. i ended up going anyway and started at rouge. its a sports bar upstairs with a billiard table and stripper pole (but no strippers, just dancers)... i wasn't harassed to have drinks (fantastic) but the talent was limited also. must of been the long weekend, but i didn't find any fishes i liked - not even the waitresses! i wanted to find a new joint to become a regular so i bounced next door after a smoke.

i was quickly seated and this time, i wanted a drink to wet my whistle - 160p (not bad). then it went downhill from there, lady drinks: 390p. i had to buy 3 of them drinks. i didn't see any fishes i fancied but asked for the prices anyway: 3900p bar fine and 3000p (minimum) for the fish. i bailed shortly after as the lady drinks were empty and i was already harassed for second round - i didn't even finish my drink but i would of cost me another round to finish.

this happened a few more times, a costly exercise but i didn't mind. i got to cop-a-feel so many different ladies; each stop had 3-6 ladies, about 40+ and i lost count after... the ratio was 1 guy to 8-9 ladies at each joint that evening - i like those odds! they're not shy, its dark, cold and their wearing next to nothing. DFK, dry humps, hand full of nipples and clit rubs (inspection purposes of course), bump and grind, dirty dancing to the crappy tunez broadcasted but who the hell cares! i got to live out my fantasy grouping babydolls surrounding me for a little change. the linen above my crotch was wearing out faster than my behind!

needless to say, it was an expensive evening. i started about 9:30pm and i got back to my hotel room a little after 4:30am and burnt about a 18k-20k pesos on drinks.

i did end up with a take out, but that's for another day. she's still with me since sunday bash...

Foreigner

Stay away from Ermita, General Manila Area, not too safe for foreigners especially if you plan on pension housing there. You stick out already plus people are more rough + crime rates are much higher there esp if youre alone. Id advise anything cheap around Makati Area should be ok.

Brother take a bus up to Subic/Olongapo and just relax having an awesome time and not having to worry about your safety.  Subic is much safer than Manila, they are very used to tourists there and are very friendly.  Yes you will get stares, but it is out of curiosity.  I am relatively young and in great physical shape so I find that people just want to talk with me because I am not the average tourist.  They are so friendly and Subic has tons of pretty girls.  They also have lots of places to just hang out and have fun and if you get a girl you want to spend a couple of days with there is lots to do.  There are many nice resorts that you can stay at with security, good food and pretty girls.  Also it is very cheap there which I really like, plus the beaches which are a great change from Manila.

I forgot to mention that most of the resort bars are open 24 hours so you can get food or alcohol at anytime without worries.  This is in the Baloy Beach area.

If you want the street bar scene there is always Barrio Barretto.

Personally I wouldn't waste my time in Manila.  My girlfriend grew up there, hates the place and doesn't feel safe there.  Too much crime, pollution and corruption.  I share her opinion.  I only go to Manila if I have to for the airport or to buy a western product that is not available in some of the other provinces.

Any questions, just PM me.

Beware of Taxi Scams!

ALWAYS insist they switch on the meters and watch it! or at least agree on fare before you start the voyage. do not be tempted by their 'return service.' there are heaps of taxi's, there's no need for it. mofo wanted to rip me off 1500p for round trip to burgos and another kept adding extra charges and i had to tell him off on the third attempt!

just be wary of the affair

If you want a 5-star hotel for a good deal, I went to Asiatravel.com for their Crazy Rate. It's similar to Hotwire where you are given the rate but not the name of the hotel until you have paid. You cannot cancel or get a refund, so you have to sacrifice those abilities in exchange for a huge discount.

I did this a couple years ago and I got the Dusit Thani Manila hotel in Makati.

http://www.dusit.com/dusit-thani/dusit-thani-manila.html

However, it can be any 5-star hotel in Manila there so don't go in expecting one hotel and getting another.

Thanks for all the useful info guys.  Sounds like I have enough on bars in Manila, can any of you give more info on casa's and those massage health spa's?  I've read a few reports so far and they seem like a good choice if I have the time.

As far as accommodation it looks like I'll be staying at a place near Pedro Gil, I have no idea but it seems like a good place, close enough to the LRT and stuff.  I actually lived in Las Pinas for a year as a high school student and I know enough basic tagalog to not seem like a total  noob or tourist.

@cm, sounds like a good time over there, seems like your daily budget is what I've allocated for mongering over 5-7 days.  Have you tried any of the smaller joints as well, the ones where they call the girls GRO's? I don't know if they have them in that area but I'll probably hit up those smaller ktv's  for old times sake.

I wouldn't mind teaming up but at the moment I'm 85% sure on either first or second week of January.

What places are you planning on hitting up btw?

To the rest of you guys, I might also be heading out to Las Pinas or that general area, where I used to live.  I'll probably be too busy for mongering but just in case anyone knows anything about that general area, it would help.
