Macau Hotel: Sheraton Cotai or Hotel Golden Dragon

Good am guys, i've been searching online for my lodging in Macau for my Aug 2013 trip and found out that my favorite MetroPark Hotel is priced high at 962HK$.
Only 3 hotels are priced lower than that namely: Ole London Hotel (634HK$), Hotel Golden Dragon (821HK$) and Sheraton Cotai at (888HK$).
Of the 3, my selection boils down between Hotel Golden Dragon (home of 18 Sauna) and Sheraton Cotai.
May i ask for opinion/advice which hotel should i book for my upcoming HK/Macau trip.
Thanks in advance.

Best thing to do is not to book so early... Put all your pennies into a jar and wait for the hotel to drop in price... What's your budget...

Of course the cheaper the better. My previous stays were at the MetroPark Hotel and before its priced at 500+ - 600+HK$ but since Sheraton cotai is at HK$ 888 and Hotel Golden Dragon at HK$ 821, i may as well try the better hotels for a change.
After booking it online, i always pay upon check out with cash and the hotel will forfeit/void the credit card verification form.

If its the Sheraton next to the Venetian then that's the one to go to ... its brand new, a lot more upmarket then the other two ... surprised to hear you're getting it at that price !

The Golden Dragon is very bad, with hard, worn out beds.

sheraton is part of the holiday inn (4 star) hotel of the cotai central, which is a brand new integrated resort with affordable food courts and shops on the second floor. it would be a treat to check out sheraton (5 stars) because cotai central itself is pretty amazing, compared to the venetian which you can see that it's getting old and poorly managed

It's an odd comparison, in many respects. Both the Metropark and Golden Dragon are right in the heart of sauna territory, while the Sheraton Cotai is far away from that, in the heart of "Las Vegas, Asian Edition" (Cotai / Taipa). I must be missing something fundamental, because these two areas just seem too different to be properly compared, at least for mongering purposes. I suppose taxis and shuttles bridge the gap, but I remember just how convenient everything was when I stayed at Rio. Old Macau is so compact.

Also, I've noticed that ctrip.com is sometimes a  bit cheaper than agoda or asiarooms, but there's not 100% overlap in their hotels.

Agree. Cotai sucks for mongering. Taxis will run up expenses and waste time.

@ DGS: why not just stay over in saunas?

I'll be flying straight from Manila to HK and will be mongering for a few days before i spend my last 2 days in Macau then fly back to Manila.
I need to get some comfortable lodging for an overnight stay.
I recalled taking Taxi from the City of Dreams to MetroPark Hotel past midnight and it cost me 60 HK$.
Should i stay at Sheraton Hotel Cotai, i may gamble to avail of some WGs (outside the City of Dreams or inside the Venetian) who is willing to stay overnight with me inside the comfort of the hotel room.
Trip is still 7 months away so just taking time planning ahead to max out my trip at the least expenses.

I've stayed in both. Like the other bros have said, Golden Dragon is old and Sheraton is brand new with nice beds. If you're going to spend a lot of time in your room, then I'd definitely stay at the Sheraton. If you're going to be mongering a lot, you can always take the shuttle from the hotel to the ferry terminal and then take a hotel shuttle to the other side to save some costs on taxis. That being said, it wasn't difficult for me to get taxi's at the Sheraton.

Stay in Zhuhai.
RMB 200+ for a decent hotel.
You can still punt in Macau, just remember to cross the border before midnight.

I don't want to speak for other punters, but when I'm on a mongering trip, both time and money need to be considered. If the girls were going to come to me, I'd pick the nicest hotel within my budget. If I were going to the girls (ie: Sauna, Lisboa, Darling, night clubs, etc.), then I'd want to be in the older part of Macau, where all the action is.

Just saying that some punters do outcall, in which case it doesn't matter whether the hotel is close to the sauna scene. So if the punter is going to bring girls back to his room, the choice of Sheraton Cotai makes more sense than if he was a sauna punter.

Actually i would love to stay again at the Metropark Hotel but since it's priced at 962HK$, i'd rather take a chance to monger at the Cotai side and just stay at Sheraton at a cheaper price of 888 HK$.
To be able to witness Macau's pride HOUSE OF DANCING WATERS is part of my plan and i somehow wanted to check for myself those much talked about WGs (Latinas, Columbians, Russians aside from the PRC girls) at the Venetian before dawn.
I may wana just hang out alone at the hotel lobbies or at the plazas and be the prey of all the WGs soliciting their services and hope i can bring a good one into my room and stay with me for the night.

The prices of the hotels i considered staying are as follows:
(pictures taken from booking.com via screen shots)

I'm actually about to book the DeLuxe King Room at Sheraton Cotai when i realized that there's a catch for the 888 HK$ price.
Adding up the 5% and 10% taxes, the room will sum up to 1021 HK$.

Another catch that i discovered is it will be via advance payment via credit card on date of booking.

Prices differ when free cancellation is offered coz even though credit card verification number will be used for booking, no payment will be charged to your credit card till after the day of stay.

Another thing that i discovered is there's No FREE WIFI in the Sheraton Hotel rooms but will be charged upon request.
