I have met tons of people on another forum asking me to email them for any information and punting help for Ho Chi Minh City.
I tried and he said he is already making a lot of money in HCMC and goes punting almost daily so he wont charge me like a tour guide or anything. He is just asking me to bring just a very cheap $10 gift for his wife that is unique from the country I come from. In return, he will show me all the best fuck joints in the city.

Question is, GUYS PLEASE HELP ME:

Should I meet this guy? Will I get robbed? Is it a scam?? Is it the POLICE??? Why such a cheap gift? Is it a cheap beggar? Is it a pimp???

PLEASE I DONT HAVE MUCH TIME PLEASE HELP ME IF IT IS WORTH THE RISK I AM NERVOUS TO MEET A NEW PERSON AND I DONT HAVE MUCH TIME TO DECIDE. PLEASE TELL ME IF ANYONE HAS ANY SIMILAR EXPERIENCE I AM A NEWBIE IN THE COUNTRY VERYYY SOON.

for me if im in a foreign city normally asking the hotel doorman will yield some great places.

Thank you all, although it does seem harmless - I mean, he is asking for a petty $10 unique gift from your own country for his pregnant wife - I feel suspicious. So, I will not go through with it. It does not seem like a popular scam? if anybody has similar experience please let us know as this would verify our suspicions.

if no, then i assume this guy approached you, and offered info on HCMC.
you did not provide enough information on this particular guy.

if you don't know him at all, just a random stranger on the net...
then screw it, IT"S DEFINITELY A SCAM.

but if you know him from an anonymous forum...
then you have to judge how well you know this guy.

Dont do it mate. A mate of mine was there a couple years ago and got a rip off price, like 5 times market price from somebody who was a friend of a friend. He didnt check local prices until afterwards then refused to pay the balance. The guide was a gentle looking father and daughter but they brought thugs to collect the next day. I have heard good atories too but dont risk it. U are at a total disadvantage in a country that is corrupt and had been through a war that totally messed things up.

This member is now banned....but for the other brothers I'd like to note that there were a couple of guys trying to do this sex tourist service in HCMC and some reported it was okay and others thought it was a scam. The honest truth is there is lots of information out there on the internet to find places to go. Don't need a guy to take you around. The city is very safe, people don't want to get in trouble with the cops/govn't. After living there for a couple year, I have to say it is a poor city but one of the safest with the fact that crimes are petty and violent crimes are not that prevalent.
