Coming to HK early April, first timer lots of questions

First of all let me introduce my self, I am an ABC from US...
Thinking bout visiting Hong Kong on my way to Singapore.
I have been to HK a couple time when i was younger, i think the last time i visit HK was 5-7 years ago.
I speak basic conversational Mandarin, but i dont think its good enough for transaction.

My original Plan was to stay at HK for 3 days, 2 nights. Arriving 6 AM and left Hong Kong at 1PM (i cant get a later flight ), This is gonna be my first time mongerin, i think the most ive ever do was a massage with happy ending in Vegas which was a fkin ripoff! Soi want to make the most out of it, i even thinking bout exten my stay to 3 nights, but im not bout that.

Ok here we go...
1. Any suggestions for Hotel? My travel agent suggest Royal Pacific Hotel ( i think its on TST) for US$120/night. I look up the internet and found Metropark hotel for about US$85/night (quote i got from their official website). Both are located in TST which from the reports is one of the busiest 141 place..... Im leaning towards Metropark for the cheaper price, you guys have any recommendation for cheap but decent/secure hotel ? Also transportation from Airport to Hotel is important to me, since im bring 2 huge luggages and 2 handbags. The Royal Pacific Hotel got some shuttle service going on, and i don't know about the metropark.

2. Got a Cell phone, and definately gonna buy a call card/prepaid card. Ive read the stick thread bout cell phone.... is there any specific brand or aything that i can spot easily, cos i dont read character (or are they in English)

3. Since im gonna be alone, im gonna need some company for sightseeing, are any of these girls willing to accompany customer? for a price, or maybe for free ( i pay for all the expense) if she likes me enough ?

4. What is the best time for action ? is there any action after midnight ?

5. Is it possible for 'hotel reservation' to be set up in my hotel room ?

I think that's it for now, ill add up more question sicne im still planning my trip

Thanks in advance

Bro,

As a visitor to HK I will try to answer your questions from a visitors perspective, I am sure the rest of the brotherhood will give you a better, more experienced local insight.

1. Just came from HK and I liked the Kowloon Hotel, very central to everything in TST and I think it is reasonably priced. I think the Island may be a better choice if you want to go out at night (ie Causeway Bay).

2. I got a CSL sim card (HK Visitors SIM card), you can buy them at the airport for $HK 78 and you can get refills of $Hk 100 or $200 at any 7/11 or K Circle convenience store. This is a GOOD move if you want Hotel girls and cheap call rates.

3. Suggest you book a tour at the Hotel and let them show you around and get the hookers to do what they do best. 141 girls are fuck machines not tour guides.

4. This is HK, there is action any time of the day and nite, if you are an nite owl I re-emphasize that the Island may be a better option. That said it is only 10-15 mins away from TST via MTR (fast train) if that is your pleasure.

5. Anything is possible but don't bank on the agents speaking good English, their Hotels are reasonable and you have no risk of having anything taken (though I am sure that would not happen)

You are in for a treat, the USA is crap for mongering. If you have the time kick along to Macau for what Vegas should have been !!

If money is not a major problem, I suggest you hangout in Macau.

You won't waste your time calling the papasans, they don't always answer. The girl you saw on the web might not be the girl you end up with at the hotels.

Walk up girls are ok, not as pretty as the hotel girls.

In Macau, you get to choose them in person and they'll give you the full hour(18) or hour and a half (d1). Now that I've done this a few time, Macau is my choice.

Actually, schools have closed 3 days early, prior to the Easter holidays - making it a total of 2 weeks holidays.

Macau is China so you will need your passport with you to go in/come out but if you don't need a VISA for HK you should not need a VISA for Macau. That said always check with your travel agent !!

If you have a US passport I doubt you will need VISA's.

I totally agree with Bro Unmask, once you have been there it is hard to go back to 141 walk ups and I have not bothered with agents mainly because of the language barrier. You are talking $HK 1500 - $2000 a throw in Macau but with an 8:1 exchange rate for your US dollar you are laughing

By all means try the 141 walk up scene (it is fun...) but don't blow too much money there, quality varies and facilities are OK but by no means sensational. Get your aim with a few 141 walk ups on the first day and catch the next ferry to Macau. I doubt you will want to go back to the 141 scene in a hurry.

On my first trip I overdosed on 141 walk ups and went to Macau (18) on the last day, what a difference !

Last week I was 50-50 Macau - HK

Next trip will be 80 -20 at least in favour of Macau. I will need to go to HK to get some presents and see a couple of favourites but that will be it.

Mandingo, I'm with you. If I fly all the way to HK I want quality and that's Macau.

Macau is about double the cost of HK hotel girls but well worth it...IMHO.

The flu outbreak is extremely dangerous now.  So when you get here, make sure you avoid children at all costs.  Best that you and the girl wear a surgical mask while doing it

According to yesterday's SCMP, this year's flu outbreak is no more severe than the seasonal norm. The couple of kids who died all had other problems that aggravated the severity of the flu infection - and people die every year from complications from the flu. It's only because of the SARS epidemic of a few years ago, and the ever-looming bird flu threat, that the media has blown this flu thing all out of proportion.

The only way the flu season is going to impact me is that the Hotel Res girls are probably even less willing to DFK.

I wasn't here during the SARS epidemic - does anyone know what happened with the whole 141 scene back then? I assume it just shut down completely.

It's unfair to judge HK on the walkups only. I did the room girl thing for the first couple of mths, and then moved up the food chain to the Hotel Res girls, who for less than half the price of the Macau babes rarely disappoint. If you're a tourist, Macau is definitely worth a visit, and the fish tank selection method certainly simplifies things, but for someone living in HK, there's plenty of quality available here without having to hassle the ferry ride and immigration controls.

Marsupial,

100% agree with your comment, I emphasize that my advise/comments are always based from a touristic point of view trying to aid bros that go to HK looking for some action. Tourists have some advantages and disadvanatages

1. Better $$ exchange rate that makes mongering to the max affordable.

2. Unable to communicate in anything but English (well for say 50% of visitors).

I LOVE the walk up scene , I never ventured into the Hotel reservation because of lack of language but recognise that there is some OUTSTANDING value at the $700-$900 mark and most likely in nice premises. I just wished I spoke a bit of Chinese or was a bit more patient.

However, I found Macau, affordable, consistent service, better facilities, and great young babes (and not only chinese girls). I don't try to put people off HK, far from it ! But I think that unless you can dabble in Chinese a bit (or extremely patient) you may struggle to move above the 141 walk up scene (as a visitor of course).

As a tourist you have a limited window of opportunity (most 2-7 days) and I just don't think that spending time on the phone or walking the corridors/stairs of Fuji Building is efficient use of time. In Macau you have everything on a platter and because the $$ exchange helps you it makes very affordable. Yes the ferry and immigration are a pain but it is consistent (ie 1 hour ferry and 10-40 mins in immigration each way). after that it is all good !

Hope this clarifies it, by all means enjoy HK, it is a great place for a million reasons ! but if tourist mongering is your objective I recommend you try Macau's consistency and quality of service. That said, it would be wrong not to experience a couple of 141 walk ups to savour the local culture ! (just don't over do it...)

Answers;

1. On the first day of my retirement, I stayed at the Peninsula Hotel. At your request, they will drive you around town in a Rolls Royce or drive you from the airport in one. If you're in a real hurry, you can be flown to the hotel in a chopper. There is a helipad on the roof. This is one of the best hotels in the world. You will not be disappointed.

The Rolls Royce airport service is good because you don't have to carry your own luggage around the subway (MTR). However, you can skip the Rolls Royce around town thing as the MTR gets you anywhere in Hong Kong faster and cheaper.

If you're looking for a cheap place to stay, I suggest the Chung King Mansions. I've stayed there as a young man before. I was a hippie and Chung King is THE bohemian curry-eating backpackers' destination of Hong Kong. Bunks (not rooms) go for around $10-20 USD a night. I haven't stayed there in awhile, so Google the info, call and ask for yourself, to be sure.

2. Call your phone carrier and have them unlock your phone in the USA or it won't work in Hong Kong. Buy a SIM card in Hong Kong and stick it in your phone and you're in business.

3. I agree with the other brother. The girls are there as fuck machines, not tour guides. You'll have better luck with some of the local Fillipinas if you're there on a weekend as they get one day off a week.

4. Best time is in the afternoon before other mongers get off work so you're not rushed by other guys knocking on the door. Yes, there's action after midnight, but only if you pay the overnight rate.

5. Yes.

Good advice bro. You didn't give the price of the Peninsula but, as they say, if you wanna know the price, you can't afford
it. Even if you don't stay there it's worth a visit for afternoon tea in the lobby lounge. A few months ago I went for an
afternoon of ballroom dancing - it was like going back in time. Sorry, I'm an old colonial Brit, still living in the past and
remembering better days.

Ah you lucky non-Americans! I really do envy the guys with euro's, pounds, etc.  Unfortunately, my income is in US dollars, which have now so declined in value that the last time I was in Europe, it was cheaper to wipe my ass with US one dollar bills than to go out and buy toilet paper. Thank you America for the prudent management of your economy.

I used to love taking afternoon tea at the Peninsula back when HK was still a colony. We would fly in for the occasional weekend from the still undeveloped Taiwan (this was in the late 70's), and the Peninsula lobby was an oasis of stuffy Brit opulence.  My very first visit, I got a stern lecture from an aging couple of Scots about the proper way to make tea! It's not the same now. More often than not, you find yourself surrounded by chattering Japanese tourists clutching guide books. Tho in many ways HK has improved since the handover, something very unique has been lost. But I suppose this is just nostalgia for lost youth.
