SKM - visitor's registration!!

So have you guys seen the recent notices posted in SKM (I think mainly by the elevators) that say that from Feb 20th onwards, residents will need to show their resident cards and if you don't have one, then you will need to register with your HKID, or something to that effect?

If I remember correctly, it says that from Mon-Fri 3pm - 7am and all day Sat/Sun visitor registration will be in effect!

Seems with the recent new surge in walkup rooms there, the other residents have taken action and are trying to drive away the punters and in turn, the girls...

If all those weirdos and drunk/loud punters did not go about wandering around the hallways all night every day scaring the old ladies, children, and concern mothers, there would not be a problem. Many ppl forget one's own behavior can impact on the longevity of a location as many of these walk-ups are in buildings where non-wgs live and work too. If it gets to the point that more and more residents complain that strangers keep propositioning the female (non-wgs) residents for sex at late hours, the police will be forced to act and shut down the wgs.

So please everybody, act like you going to visit a doctor. You know polite, well-mannered, and non-threatening. The management may be strict in the first few weeks but will eventually become lax because of complaints from the legit businesses inside SKM, ie Thai restaurant, legit foot massage, and doctors.

SKM is a walkup building?
what does it stand for?
what about foreigners who don't have a HK ID or resident card?

Wow. With all the other 141s in the city, this is sure to make SKM a wasteland. God only knows, given the choice between registering there or NOT registering at fuji or elsewhere' I'm just going to go elsewhere...  It's a pretty bright move by the residents, iftheir goal is to chase out the WGs.

If I had a choice between SKM and Fuji, I would still choose SKM as the safer bet. My SO knows what Fuji is (a building 99% occupied by wgs) and if she or her friends saw me go into Fuji, I am dead.

SKM on the other hand has legitimate residents and businesses, a Thai restaurant or two, legitimate footie/body massage places, etc that would serve to give me the necessary cover. I just will make sure when I go to SKM, I might as well go and register for the Thai restaurant for lunch before enjoying desserts at the daty .

If this is what is going to happen at SKM then I can tell you from experience this place will lose most of the WGs. These girls know that it will kill their business and will refuse to ply their trade when they can have other options.

Once the 20th Feb comes I won't be surprised if 1/2 the WG will disappear and appear somewhere nearby.

Lets see if I am right..

There was an angry old lady at SKM on the 12/F.  She's probably still there.  Her apt is next to the lift. She would put her head out into the hallway and glare at the punters, and the girls if any happen to be going out somewhere.  Emily told me that she'd sometimes shout at people.

On average, I'd say quality of girls at SKM is better than Fuji.  Fuji and SKM are my main 141 bldgs.  SKM is far tidier.  And there are several legends in SKM, and consider that Fuji has far more girls. Another plus, is that indeed, you can claim you're going or just went to the restaurant (I believe the Thai is no longer).

But SKM is expensive for the girls.  They get good quality (ie, wealthy) traffic with admiralty and the Wanchai bars nearby.   But the landlords want a cut.  If punters need to register  and the landlords keep on squeezing, the girls will move out.

This said, it remains to be seen if this will be enforced?  Some (office) buildings have similar notices on their walls, and it's not always enforced.

So it's come to this uh? Surely the landlords will be set back and rents will drop once the WGs move out (I wonder where they could go to around Wanchai or if this stronghold will go down forever). I'm sure the landlords don't like this new policy but then the rest of the residents win here.

AGAIN ...

do you have any idea what you're talking about ?

do you know who owns most of these walk up places ?

are you familiar with the way SKM's been set up - especially recently ?

do you know how the incorporated owners works in a building, in any building in HK ?

The action by the residents would work, even if it turns away 25% of punters, that's enough to hurt their business that they might want to relocate.

Personally, I'd avoid anything where I'd need to register, regardless of the hotness of the girls there!

A matter of time, I suppose

With a mix of residential flats, regular businesses, and a lot of WGs,  I suppose this was a matter time.    The sound insolation in these places is rather crap, so residents must hear door-slams, door-bells, and maybe even moan+groans into the wee hours of the nite.  Not a nice environment...

Damn, I rarely did walkups, but when I did SKM was my usual haunt.  I can see this driving away the gals methinks.

Famous Abby who was at SKM is now at Kam Bong in Sheung Wan according to this website. Is that an indication of what is going to happen. Mass exodus from SKM?

It's in effect!

yes, it's happening.

Visitors to Sun Kai Mansion will have to sign in on the first floor as of today. The girls are moving out.  A few from the 4/F are heading out to Fuji in Causeway at the end of the month. There are few clients and the girls were leaving their rooms early today.

Actually, I didn't sign in today.  The firemen were there for something or other, and in the commotion, I walked straight past a bunch of guys in the lobby, some wearing uniforms. A few of the guys, I was later told, are actually there to enforce the sign in.

You can try saying you're going to the restaurant.  I have no idea what happens if you say: "I'm going to see Kiki on the 7th for about 30min."

Yes, was there too and just told the guard I'll go upstairs to the 9th floor. That was all he said "OK" and pointed out the lift I should take. The quiz in uniform were from a range of departments, mostly buildings and fire services, probably checking on illegal structures and fire safety compliance. The latter is welcome, would not know how to explain my potential rescue from some dodgy building to the SO in case of fire :-)

Incorporated Owners of SKM 1, punters and WGs, 0.

Game over.

Its an inconvenience for us but for the WGs its affecting their livelihood. its part of a cycle, a few WGs get started in a building, which attracts some punters and then more WG's move into the building because there are more punters there and it goes round and round like this in to every other door has a WG and there are lots of horny bastards walking up and down the staircases bumping into the residents, who then chase them out .

Part of the circle of life.

Keep on mongering

I had seen a story on the Pearl Report or the ATV version that was talking about subdividing Flats to build multiple flats and how the city was taking a look into how that affected fire code, building regulations, etc., and I was wondering if all the renovations and subdividing at SKM would catch up with them.

While it seems like upset residents are probably leading the cause, policies like this could give them the muscle they need to take action.
