non mandarin/canto speakers do you ever have issues trying to book some of the girls (ok alot of the girls)?

the chinese speaking bros out there help us out. what are some of the phrases you need to know when trying to make an appointment?

I am fairly new to this, but maybe I can help.  Also, if you can think of phrases in English you wish to say in Chinese, I can translate it.  Here's a few I think might help.

Big Tits - Dai Boh
Big butt - Dai Law (Dai means big)
Skinny - Soal
How much $$ - Gai Doh Tsin
What time - Gai Doh Dim
(Gai Doh = how many or much)

To the girls
Harder - Dai Lik Dee
Softer - Tsai Lik Dee

Name other phrases and I'll try to translate

You gotta get your pronunciation correct,  or the pimp will not have the faintest clue what's being said. I'll write it here in Jyutping so there is a basis for correctness.

daai6 bo1  = big tits
sau3 = skinny
gei2 do1 c(h)in2 = how much $?
gei2 do1 dim2 = what time? --- not gai


Anyway, this is all I say every time... and it does the job.

When talking to the pimp, you just need to say:

我想book XXXX, 佢6點鐘得唔得?
ngo5 soeng2 book XXXX, keoi5 6 dim2 zung1 dak1 m4 dak1?
I want to book XXXX, is she 6 o'clock ok?

if he says m4 dak1, then you propose a new time 7點鐘得唔得 7 dim2 zung1, dak1 m4 dak1 aa3?

邊度?
bin1 dou6?
where?

then when he says the hotel in chinese for which you probably dunno where it is... you either

a) on the way re-call the guy and give the phone to the taxi driver
b) ask him to say the hotel in english


You might want to also say in Chinese:

確保佢係真係嗰個女仔
kok3 bou2 keoi5 hai6 zan1 hai6 go2 go3 neoi5 zai2
make sure she is really that girl.

Virginboy that's awesome. Exactly what I'm looking for. I'm going to give it a shot later tonight.   I figure you only needa few phrases to get by.

Would you say the majority of the girls use Cantonese or Mandarin?

What is the point of asking these things in Canto/Mando if you are going to get an answer in canto/mando and you won't understand..

HR girls pretty much are all Mandarin speakers, though you'll get quite a few that can speak some Cantonese since many do work in SZ and have picked up Cantonese along the way.

Virginboy does have a lot of good stuff and is accurate, but the problem with Mandarin and even more so Cantonese is that both are tonal languages, meaning that you not only have to get the syllables right, but also the tones.  So even if you're armed with all the phrases, it won't do much good without the right intonation and you'll sound like an idiot like Wayne in Wayne's World.  (Though Rob Lowe actually had the pronunciation down pretty good).

If you don't speak either Mandarin or Cantonese, you're better off learning Mandarin - you have a fighting chance of getting Mandarin down right since there are fewer tones per syllable (max of 4 for Mandarin as opposed to 6 to 9 for Cantonese).

I get really frustrated when trying to converse with mando girls, cuz my mando sucks.

I can speak canto fluently but just cant get the hang of mando, I find it really difficult to listen and speak.

Why is that?

Any other bros that speak canto, but find mando difficult?

I have friends who don't speak good mando but are fluent in canto. It's mostly due to exposure (they don't watch mando movies/practice that much).

Usually it's more difficult for mando speakers from the Beijing area to get used to canto. Other areas in China don't have as much of a problem due to local dialects that are still used by relatives. That will probably get worse in a few years.
