You guys have a great ability to make KTV sound like such a boring event, but when in reality, it's like ...
the best thing in the world.
You go into a (KTV) room with your buddies, sit down. A woman dressed in a suit usually comes down immediately and introduces herself. She's known as the mama san. She will call in a line up of 6-7 young, nubile, lucious girls dressed in nightgown for your selection. If you don't like that lineup, you can politely tell the mama-san and she will bring in her second line up. She'll keep on doing this until you've found the perfect one for the night. At which time hopefully all of your buddies have selected their companion for the evening. Some brothers like to choose two girls each. To each their own. Then the beer/wine/food ordering commences. Singing eventually starts. Either the girls starts singing, or one of the brothers, who've already consumed enough alcohol will take the mic. Some bros even shed their clothes doing their own strip show.
Aside from singing, small black cups with 6 dice in each are brought out, and eventually games of "liar's dice" or "lucky dice" starts, with the loser being forced to "gang bei" or in the western world "bottom's up". What starts off as a one on one game, becomes two on two, then three on three, etc. Other manager's come by the room to greet you and drink up your alcohol. Some fellows with flowers or stuffed animals come in trying to con you into buying that crap for your companion of the evening. During August/September time frame, there are even hard selling of moon cakes.
Eventually, if you start off at 6pm, by 11 or so you're nice and tired and ready for some action, as the entire time, your companion has been feeling you, nibbling your eyes, kissing your cheeks, resting her head on your broad shoulders, ready for you to save her for the evening. You will take her for "take out" which some bros like to commence first with a mid night snack at some restaurant before going back to the room for either ST or LT.
The evening will cost 200 for the girls to sit with you. Short time will add on another 300, or Long time will add another 500. Thus the 2/5/7 pricing structure. You will also find the 3/6/9 or even 5/10/15's.
