Newbie question

Hi,

Will be in HK last week in March.

Want to make a list of girls to see just in case I can't get net access.

Is it too early to compile a list of potential WG to see now?

yes - its potentially to early.    They come and go like the sun and moon.

You could make a top 5 list and check it the day before you get here.

Instead you should figure out your game plan on where and how.    Thats the biggest question.

Are you going to go to a place like 37D or k-pres  or do a HG   or go to do some walkup service.

Then after you figure that out,  figure out which area to go.

For newbs the best choice (IMHO) is TST and use the HG (hotel reservations).

You have the largest selection and mostly are 600-800 HKD.

Also the few days before you come here,   when you are making the top 5 list,   use the search feature and look for recent reports by bros.    This should be a primary factor in your top 5.    It could cause your #5 to move to #1 if there are a few good reports or GOOD real pics.     Keep in mind that most of the ads are PS.

Hope this helps bro.

Make sure to report on your adventure.

bring a laptop - net access is as easy as subscribing to PCCW wifi service for about HK$50.  That's for a full month, it's much less per day or per hour ...

That way you don't have to worry about using public PCs

Hi DArtagnan,

I didn't plan on bringing a laptop. Was going to use free wifi available at various places to browse the web using an iPhone.

Also planing to get a sim card at 7-Eleven to make callls and set up appointments with a regular cell phone.

Do you know if I get a sim with a data only plan for my iPhone?

Thanks for your help.

Iphone is fine, except you'll find the screen a bit small.  The Mobile version of the sight is very clunky except for confirming final details of a girl you already picked.

And yes, you can find free wifi - the government is installing it in most of the public parks, for instance - and some shopping malls (like Harbour City in TST) provide free wifi access.  But a lot of the free places (coffee shops, for example) may be a little too public for you!  What's $50 when you'llbe spending a few thou?  It's less than most of the guys drop for a tip ...

Dunno about data-only SIM, but I'd be very surprised if you can't get one.  These days it seems even the voice plans focus on data, with voice minutes as a bonus ...
You can definitely get a data-only plan from 3HK which is month-by-month (i.e. you can cancel any time).

Regarding government free wifi, I have actually found that you cannot access the DB or forums using the free wifi provided by the government due to their nature.

But it is ok to access with the free wifi from most coffee shops.

Also to OP, if you are making a list for walkups, it should be ok to start now.
If you are making a list for HG's, best to start 2 or 3 days before you arrive and have a good supply of backups just in case.
