That is good advice.
I have had a card company ring my SO at home, then she rings me. Lucky it was for buying some watches, and not session at Rio spa. If I hadn't called card company within a couple of hours my card would have been put on HOLD.
It's also good for security to give card Co. dates as to when you will be in HK/Macau, etc., so transactions outside that span can be flagged. I only use the one card for transactions like Rio, etc., and I look at my statement on-line daily for a couple of weeks after to ensure my card is not being skimmed.
