The mainlanders don't celebrate it, so its business as usual for them. But might there be more foreigners on vacation at that time in china? And would that possibly crowd things out or make things less accessible or enjoyable? (i.e. a situation similar, but not as extreme, as the 2 week canton fair where foreigners are suddenly too plentiful)

During other periods should be fine unless there are raids - that is near big national holidays breaks (i.e. recent national holiday).

#3 Post at 4-11-2009 14:54  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L Reply #1 bonkers89's post I've been to Dongguan during the holiday season and it was as busy as ever.  I suppose even though most Chinese did not incorporate into their traditions, doesn't mean most punters don't treat themselves to a fun time. Midautumn Festival / Lunar New Year is when it'll be more quiet.  Most folks will be in other parts of the country to see other family members.   Makes you feel a little for the WGs who are stuck tending to guys like us.
