TVB series dvd sets - CP or HK?

hey bros

i noticed that around zhongyuan street in CP, there are a few shops selling DVDs. was wondering
whether they have the DVD sets of recent TVB dramas (doesn't matter if its dubbed in mando or canto)?
if so, are these of original or at least good viewing quality?

is it actually cheaper to get such DVD sets in HK or CP? i never really noticed the prices in HK and i am
doing this for a mate of mine (we can't get TVB shows where we are!) so i told him that on my next
trip to this part of the world, i would buy some home for him. just not sure whether CP or HK will
be better for that.

You will find most are copies from the HK version since most of the TVB dramas will have Cantonese and Mandarin languages.

Will be much cheaper in CP than HK but they tend to be copies when you buy in CP, whereas HK have originals.

Anyways, here is site that you and your mate may have interest in http://www.tvboxnow.com - you can download the shows at this site.

You can also look at http://www.yesasia.com for the English name of the TV dramas.

It's much cheaper in CP, it's about RMB 5 - 10 per piece depend on place and quantity. But before you buy them, try them first to see the quality of the picture. The price is about 3X in HK, but the quality of the picture is guaranteed.

when it comes to DVDs, unless they are cartoons, I generally buy originals.  Don't want to take a chance on getting a copy of a DVD where the source was shot from a portable camera at a movie theatre.  My guess though when it comes to TVB though is that the quality is probably the same as what you can get in HK.  I'd get the ones in Cantonese though, probably hard(er) to find in CP - my feeling is that that would get you closer to a copy from an original.

Only buy it from CP if it is cheap enough such that you don't care if the quality is messed up or not.

first off, thanks bro asia-play for the webbie! and thanks again from my mate
its lagging at the moment for some reason i can't access it but i am sure its my service provider
more than anything (or all the 141 WGs could be tuning in now hence jamming the system -
got to get bro kaka to keep them company so i that i can actually watch it )

bro rwc, thanks for your help as well you mentioned that i can view it before buying?
do i have to insist or would they test it for me voluntarily?

i guess for these prices i am not expecting much but would they at least like put in an original
'looking' box or would it come in those cheap dead-giveaway bootleg plastic sleeves?

If you go to these places, you can always ask if the DVD that you're buying is cinema or dvd version. Cinema version being bootleg and DVD being a copy of the original DVD version. Have bought some (mainly movies that were released a while ago and went to DVD format) from CP before and all were okay

With TVB stuff, should be from the original discs...

the problem with watching on these internet channels is that you're subject to all kinds of popups and potentially all kinds of spyware and malware.

Should have Internet Security applications to prevent such stuff from happening. If you don't have any anti-virus application or application to block spyware then you're asking for trouble.

Just like if you're going to KTV in China and you need to be prepared
