First Time Visit To Hong Kong

Hi,

I am new to the forum as I'm just about to spend my first weekend in Hong Kong. Albeit short (fly in 6pm Saturday, stay at airport hotel, fly out 8.30am next day).

I've always been curious about punting, and thought this would be the perfect opportunity. There are a few things to consider..

- this will be my first punt
- I am staying at the airport hotel
- I would like to see what I can of Hong Kong, and not just my hotel room

..I am a young healthy good looking guy, and although GFE might suit me I am also very open and have been blessed with experiences with beautiful women, some of which have been wicked, some of which have been like something out of a fairy tale (in other words, boring   )

Can anyone here please recommend what I should do? Should I take the risk with an escort agency, and have a girl sent to my hotel? (which means losing out on tourist/photo time), or head down town to the nightclubs/bars/discos (and evidently, maybe land a girl who genuinely wants to fck, who might not need a tip for CIF/COF hehe!), or the girls on the street, or this place K Pressure I've read so much about?

I really want a good time, I want it to be fun and I want to experience a new side of life, along with banging some of the tastiest girls that I can - without being a tourist sucker! I've read mixed reports on Wan Chai etc, some good, some bad.

Any help appreciated

you're asking too many questions. Do some more research and ask a more specific question. All the answers are in one of the sections.  If you've read so much about KP, then by all means try it and report back.

Ok.

Well specific question - should I purchase a HK sim card while I am there, for one night, or if I call from a foreign mobile, and I'm making a Hotel Reservation, will they call me back or will they only call HK numbers?

yes, you should absolutely get a HK sim card, assuming you have an unlocked GSM phone.  You can get it at the 7-11 in the airport.  It will be on your right as you exit customs.  The last time I went, they ran out of People's cards, so I got a One2Free card.  Note that my particular One2Free SIM lacked GPRS capabilities, so if you have a web browser on your phone, you won't be able to web browse.

If you make a HR reservation, I don't think they need to call you back.  It's good though to have the local number so in case they do need to call you, they won't have a hesitation. There will be a two call system though, where the 2nd call will be once you arrive at your destination, the PO will then give you the room number or apartment number.

ok thanks.. so HK sim it is.

I'm still deciding between HG/WG or 37D.. I'm happy to pay more for someone younger, fresher and hopefuly prettier!

I'm there on a Saturday night - what are some nice bars that play good music, have good people (locals/tourists/people who like to party) with hot girls that isn't seedy?

I'm young and live an active lifestyle, so I'd like to go somewhere which isn't seedy and somewhere I can have fun but also meet ladies that are what I'd find in any western bar (even if the girls aren't western themselves) that could result in going home with one of them, or at worse finding a WG to bargain with

firstly, dump the airport hotel and stay down town, say TST, you will have much more options.  Escort agencies are rip-offs, and HG out to airport is not so easy, could be frustration and blue balls. If you pick up a girl better to have your hotel nearby. Same if you visit a HG or walk-up and want to negotiate an overnight back to your room. Your flight out is 8:30am Sunday morning so there will be zip traffic, max 40 minutes by cab or hotel car.

secondly, read/search the forum all you want to know has been asked before.

too late.. already booked hotel, probably paid extra to stay near airport, but it means I have a decent hotel and should get a good night's sleep.. I know what I'm like.. if I was jetlagged and in a city that's full of fun, bars and women I could potentially get drunk and miss my flight!

Actually - I'm regretting it now - probably could of saved 30 quid or so on the hotel (paid 85 pounds for the night by the hotel.. nice room though).. what would I get for the same price within the city?

but what if I pick up a girl, who isn't wanting to be paid/doing it for free/is a genuine girl wanting some fun ?? can I get a taxi back to the hotel after the train stops? could I send a girl on her way in the morning if I'm checking out at 5.30am?

I am hoping that with my charm the journey to an airport hotel would be worth it's weight in gold

hi bongo.

as mentioned in an earlier post, hotel close to the airport (im guessing Novo  in Tung Chung?) wont offer much fun since its the middle of no where and nothing much to 'do'.

Hotels dont charge your card tilll you leave the hotel and they take your card for confirmation when you arrive. Therefore, you could try and cancel it just now by phoning up?
£85 for a night is not cheap and there are a few hotels in kowloon i know that can offer you a better package for same price =)

Deffo get a HK sim, quite cheap, ~HK$48 and that should get you around 480mins of talk time. As your foreign mobile might not show your number and some of the ads in the DB specifically say 'plx show caller id'.. just to be on the efficient side

can you recommend some nice hotels? ones that are nice, not just purely for punting?

and if i do stay in the city, is it as easy as getting a taxi at 5.30am? can cars get to the airport? I thought it was only ferries and trains?

Im not sure if i can post names on here ;o) but ill PM you them.

any car, van, bus, coach can get to the airport. I recommend you get the hotel coach which is usually a big pink luxurious thing and they will help you with your luggage etc and the earliest one is about 5.10am. Should be about HK$100 and will save you a bit since a taxi may be about 250-300 depending where you are.

thanks - please do, I'm not worthy enough to PM you!

so this big pink luxurious bus goes around all the local hotels, hence why it's a bit cheaper? how long does it take to get there and how often does it run?

it doesnt go round ALL of the hotels. It goes to about 5 or 6 of them, and you need to pre book the night before (the night you arrive? lol)  It runs hourly but its good to get the early ones because theres less traffic on the roads.

Normally it takes 1.5 hour ish~ but doesnt seem that long cos you end up sightseeing parts of the city, best bet is to take the earliest one.

Bongo said in his first post "I am staying at the airport hotel", I had assumed the Regal inside the airport ... nice place. I was stupid enough to stay there on some stopovers before I "discovered" HK/Macau. 85 quid will get you decent hotel in Kowloon.

I don't know your itinerary / business but was assuming sleep was a low priority. You say "checking out at 5.30am" for an 8:30am flight ..... IMO you are being pretty tough on yourself, even if I was down town  I would check out at 6:15am and be at HKIA by 7:00am.   Look, if you do pick up a girl odds are she will go back to the airport hotel with you, snuggled up in the back of a cab. If she is a WG she will neg a price and cab fare back, and if a civilian a gentleman would make it clear he would look after her getting home in the morning.

This has come up before, I just cannot understand Bros having such short HK stop-overs. It is so easy to find reason; "Darling, the travel agent fucked up and I'm forced to have 2 nights in HK, God damn it, nothing I can do about it  .... such a boring place, anyway I'll be able to catch up on work, and BTW it is famous for shopping, anything I can buy you?".

The Regal Airport Hotel was almost double.. like £160 or so.. ended up finding a nice basic room at the Marriott with King Sized Bed for half of that! And it's only 3 minutes or so down the road from the airport..

I fly at 8.30am - it might make more sense just to get a taxi back to my airport late at night, and enjoy HK, rather than stay up late, and have to worry about rushing to the airport first thing in the morning. I'll probably be wired so there may be a good chance I don't sleep at all!

Well.. to be honest I didn't realise I had a 14 hour stop off, if I did, I would of pushed the days back.. that and I didn't realise/was fully aware of the 'industry' that exists in Hong Kong - otherwise I would of left myself a good weekend to explore - firstly for travel, as I love the unknown (done alot of Asia but only ever flown through HK) and secondly for the nightlife and the spices of life Long story short, I pushed my fly back and because of that I couldn't afford anymore time in HK - and lucky I did, because I wouldn't of realised I had a night stop off and bothered to find a place to stay and find places to go out afterwards.. and that my friend, is how I ended up here! hehe. Assumption is the mother of all fck ups! I just assumed on the way back I would have a 7 hour stop off, like I did on the first leg.

..exactly.. if I meet a nice girl, I'll make sure she is ok to get home in the morning - if not leave her in the hotel room to sleep in, and she can make her own way back when it suits her.. so if I am out late at night, I could get a taxi back to the hotel in the early hours for around 200-250 HK $ ?

I think I might leave the hotel booked, check in, shower, get ready go to into town.. just need to decide whether I take photos and do the tourist part first (be about 8pm by the time I get in) or go straight to a HG/WG and get that out of the way THEN do the tourist stuff, and then have the rest of the night to find a second shot ;)

lol at your excuse for the girlfriend/wifey.. you sound like a seasoned professional! made me lol.. 'catch up on work' .. 'lots of shopping' hahaha..

if I were a first timer on a very short time frame, I wouldn't waste time with a bus - just take a freaking taxi into Kowloon - it's only an extra $20 US or about 12 quid each way.

What you should do is to do some research, come up with some hotel names, and then ask.  There are dozens and dozens of hotels in HK, so every one will suggest something different.

I think I'll stay with the one at the airport - it's booked, it's nice, it's right near where I need to be, and no fcking around in the morning! and you are right.. when it's in pounds, it's pretty much what I'd pay to get home after a Friday night out..

now I need to decide on WG/HG/bars/37D/KP

on a really tight schedule, given your 5 choices, I'd forego bars and WG.  Kills too much time going for the hunt.  Unless you had a specific WG in mind and you were able to make an appointment.  By the time you exit customs, get to your hotel and get into say Kowloon, you're talking a minimum of 8pm.  Not much time to hunt IMO.

so what would you do? HG?

I still wouldn't mind a drink afterwards - not purely for girls, but to relax and party, and hopefully with pretty WG's and western girls (travellers etc, the genuine ones!).

if you're going the HG route, I'd call James, who speaks good English, and go from there. Easy to tell which are James' girls - TST, they all have nouns for their names, and they all are listed as speaking English.

I'm actually headed there for the first time later this year. Considering Metropark in Kowloon at Waterloo. Looks like I'll have a buffet of options around there. Anyone make any suggestions to walking distance ones?
