When the police call in on the girls and you're there, I've heard conflicting reports as to how things are conducted.

Some say, they just check both IDs and ask for a contact number (or even address) which can be fake or otherwise.
Some say, they just check the girls ID and leave the client alone.
Some say, they would open the door if a client is with them.
And quite oddly, one suggest that if they come in to check ID, just say that you came in for a HJ and not a massage because massages need to be registered as a business and the girl can get into serious trouble with tax evasion.  I thought she was BS'ing me, but I heard similar from another source.

I was once asked for ID whilst waiting for a lift, which pissed me off.
So, what are the clients rights as far as checks are concerned and and which of the above is the correct manner when caught in the situation.  

A lot of the girls have said the bastrds come and see them when they're off duty.

The police has the right to check anyone's ID, anywhere and anytime, for illegal immigrants across the border or foreigners overstaying their tourist visas. You're not breaking the law, unless you're caught with an underaged girl, or with more than one girl with you in the room.

Keeping a vice establishment is against the law in HK. A flat is considered a "vice establishment" when more than one woman is conducting sex trade within the same premises.

The odds are by far on our side...i assume that the majority of guys on this side of the forum are respectable looking (although not necessarily respectable acting) white guys.  For our Asian buddies on this side, too bad your a bit more at risk as our fine Hong Kong policemen engage in racial profiling as standard procedure.  

I have two brothers who are indigenous Hongkongers and happen to be policemen, one of which is on the SDU unit.  They give me the lowdown on occasion as to what’s going on.  I have never heard anything about checks in local 141 haunts (nor have I pressed a conversation as it might make for a sticky situation with my wife, their sister) but rather them targeting saunas that are suspected of doing other things, selling drugs, illegal mahjong, gambling, betting, or their big pet peeve…anything run by suspected mainlanders or wannabe Triads.  Occasionally a hotel girl will have a shady mamsan or papasan and this can lead to some heat, but its rare.

Their advice, and quit frankly some common sense advice, is to not dress like a wannabe gangster or some bum.  Just try to look like a normal average citizen, avoid eye contact with others, blend in, and just mind your business.  If something looks funny or feels funny, just walk away.  It’s as simple as that.

Stick to normal 141 haunts during relatively normal times (I know sometimes the little brother has a schedule of his own, but try to keep your visits to between noon and say 7) and odds are you could pay a 1,000 visits and never so much as have another person give you a second look.

Really? I've never found gweilo to be derogatory. Maybe in the past, but not now. I hear it used all the time and nobody ever

We've been called Asians, Chinks and Chinamen by fucking white bigots all the time while living in Australia during the 80s, and it wasn't uncommon to find "Asians Out" graffiti   written all over bus stops everywhere. Now what's so derogatory about being called Gweilo again? Suck it up and go on with ya life, matey!

in Thailand, the Whites are called "farang" named after a fruit though I do not know why

Hey Jake, whatever floats your boat.  You can call yourself whatever you want to call yourself and use whatever language you prefer.  After all the primary purpose of language is to express ideas in greater detail, and the more colorful the language the more detailed the message being expressed.

The word “Asian” denotes location the same as European, African, North American, South American, etc.  Calling someone black, white, yellow, purple, green, or red is just using an adjective to state the color of the person in question.  You can always try to read more into these words, but you will just be reaching for controversy that’s simply not there.

“Nigger” has a the relatively modern-day stigma of slavery and oppression (mostly in the US), though the words “Niger,” “Niggardly,” etc. have far different meanings and derive from a different time, context, and language.   

“Gweilo” is generally considered a derogatory word amongst educated locals whom have bothered to study a little bit of history and reflects just as badly upon them as it does the white people it is used to describe.  To see a white person and think they are a ghost, even in the early 1600’s, is simple stupidity.  That truly is a dye luk lei…(forgive my poor pinyin).

Beta, sorry to hear you have been referred to as a Chinaman and Chink.  It doesn’t surprise me when you consider the location and the history of its peoples.

The point is, don’t throw around language unless you understand it fully otherwise you just look crass and passé.  I would recommend all of you to read a book titled “Guns, Germs, and Steel”, it’s a bit dry but it won the Pulitzer Prize and will really make you think about why some societies are more advanced than others.
