#1 Post at 1-8-2014 18:28  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L Mainland yes or no? I have been to HK a number of times and have a pretty good routine down.  I arrive again next Monday. I am spending 3 days in TST, 3 in Macau, 3 in Wanchai (for the weekend) and then back to TST for my final 10 days. I keep reading here about Shenzhen, and am wondering if it is worth the effort. It seems like HK has more than I can ever ask for, so is there any reason I should go north, or would you guys suggest I pass it up.  Doesn't seem like the best time to be going there although I do have some wechat connections there. #3 Post at 1-8-2014 19:19  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L Reply #1 Hines's post I recommend Shekou in Shenzhen if you like sitting in bars playing pool, listening to great music, talking to lovely girls (most girls talk some English) lots of expats to meet I have had many a fantastic night here. lady drinks are cheaper, girls can be cheape, hotels are much cheaper. Do a search on Obe he has a lot of info on Shekou on here and a fantastic map with all the places of interest.

Depending on what country ( or planet ) you are from, you will need get a visa.  Then you will need to do some homework and where to go and how to get there. Very few speak English so asking questions on the street is hard. Note, it is illegal in China. There was a huge crackdown in China earlier this year. It's somewhat better now.  You should try Macau.

You also can speak some Chinese.  You should have very little difficulties getting around. As a result, IF you have time and get bored in HK, I would suggest you go for a day or two.  You already have a visa.

As Irishdude mentioned they normally copy their ID cards and let them loose after a couple of hours. I was once in a bar when the police took the girl away and she asked if I could wait for her to come back. Sure enough she was back in an hour. It is pretty routine and the girls are not to fussed about it. Hines, be adventurous and go to Shekou in Shenzhen for something different. Lots of lovely bar girls who can speak reasonable English. Cheap punting and drinking to be had. Please note the only flavor on offer is PRC unlike HK.
