I'm embarking on a 3 week trip through HK, and then Shanghai.  HK I've got covered.  

But this will be my first foray into Shanghai.  Staying in the French Concession.  Given the current Heavy Weather, which has has even affected Shanghai...many MP and Saunas closed.  KTV's still operational I understand.  Any Bros got real-time intel on my best options in Shanghai?  KTV's?  Freelancers?

Any and all advice greatly appreciated.

I was recently in Shanghai, and I too got bored because of the weather and researched this as well.
In Shanghai, there are many fake profiles online, some reports of bait and switch, running the charges high after service etc etc.
I can't believe most of the MPs would be closed, especially near the Jian'An metero to Chang'Sho Rd to Chang'Ping Rd. All along those side streets there are many MPs offering HEs, for about 250rmb.

You can google up Happymassage.com and international sex guide- shanghai forum for some more up to date news. But IMHO, FS is overpriced in China overall. You would do better going out at night to some of the trendy clubs in Shanghai and converse in mandarin with some locals. Many local girls prefer foreigners-you will literally have no trouble. But if you have trouble you always find the WGs in those said bars. WGs price 2000rmb-4000rmb overnight, but with some you can lowball it down hard depending on the night and the mood. If you decline their first offer then they ask you for your range but still show interest, play the haggle game.

If you want some freelancers with reviews go to http://blog.happymassage.com/shanghai/ and look for the recommended reviews. Beware they are pricey and some only service white men only as their terms of service. Be prepared to spend big in China.

Clubbing situation in China

I will give you some background first, to help you understand the after hours socializing of Chinese culture.

Signs of wealth or displays of wealth: This is considered foreplay for most local girls, as generally they look for guys with money.
Spinster girls: Girls after 27yrold are considered "spinster" in Chinese culture, so the pressure to look for a boyfriend/husband is there. Don't be surprised to hear stories of dating to marriage in less than 6 months.
Status: Young Girls and Guys have money in China-either their own but usually their parent's money. So most considerably expect the same earning power or better. When gaming the girls don't let it drop what your actual paycheck is- fake it till you make it.
Drinking Culture (Table Culture): To show you have money but be "smart" about money aka, split bills among friends and be boring. The culture is that you ask the fuwuyuan (wait staff) for a table for the night upon entering the club or have a prior reservation. They usually do this in groups of 2+. Expect to pay 400-700rmb for the compulsory bottle of booze on the table and extras such as food/snacks and 10% service fee. When the drinks are flowing expect to see and hear lots of dice games and screaming. This is necessary as they need it to drink, expect a lot of smoking. When they get drunk enough *maybe* they may dance. If you are solo, you must have enough liquid courage to approach a table and chat the alpha guy/girl up to sit with them. This is very important you introduce yourself to the group as they would stick like glue to their tables, very little chance to be single and mingle passively-be overly assertive.
With this knowledge it is important to understand that if you are in this table drinking culture you must be able to quickly show signs of interest to your target girl whilst quickly assessing the social situation aka who is single, who is interested in who.
It is hard to pick up on the dance floor prior 2am. I suggest the shotgun approach post 1am-approach every and any girl with a smile go for quantity not quality. You be eventually get a drunk enough girl or a WG.

High End Clubbing Scene

MUSE on the Bund: This place is good, expect to see LOTS of tables. There is a side of the room with about 5 free pool tables. A tiny dancefloor but pretty good DJ. Friday and Saturday Nights. No entry fee. Drinks are pricey Beer 45+ Cocktails 70+ Bottles 400+. Mix of girls, lots of rich locals but you will bump into Russians (sometimes they are WGs) French and American students. There are KTV lounges in the back, ask the managers. Also ask the Managers discreetly where the WGs are and for recommendations. This club is one of the clubs frequented by lots of WGs, with the consent and encouragement of management. In fact girls you see standing in the street outside MUSE and Bar Rouge are "rejects" WGs, aka they arent on good terms with management or not pretty enough. Blonde dancers on stage performances I think every 1hr or 1hr 1/2.

Bar Rouge: Higher end market, 100rmb entrance fee for guys. Friday Saturday. Like MUSE on the Bund but more expensive. They hold Ladies Night on Weds, Theme Parties on Thurs. I personally did not visit the club as I was elsewhere so no report on the inside.

M2 or MUSE 2 near peoples park, 4th floor of south tower. This is a lot like MUSE but its sad little brother. DJ music is horrendous. Clientele are rich Chinese.  Mix of girls, you will bump into the expat community here and students, expect French and Americans. Blonde Dancers but this time they do a Singing performance as well. Average club but pickup scene is better. Heavy Table Culture. They also have KTV in this Club.

UNICO at Three on the Bund: nice hotel bar/nightclub. I went there on Tues for Salsa Night. Drinks are good, still expensive. Pickup scene is way better, the music is not drowning. Minimal Table Culture. Lots of expats and students. Dress up-clean smart casual. This is more of a pickup scene with smatterings of WGs coming and going. Get your game on and be surprised. French, Americans, Brits, South Americans, Russians, Europeans. The local girls are very receptive as they aren't with groups and are ready to be single and mingle.

Hollywood, Shanghai-near Hengshan station. One of the heart of the expat scene. Expect of lot of foreigners here, DJ music is fantastic but very loud, drinks are just as expensive as the Bund. Good pickup scene if you can handle Club pickup aka Eye contact, grope and kiss. Dancefloor is small feels cramped. Good place to meet local girls as the ones coming here are very open to be picked up by foreigners and would rather hold out for one. Thurs Friday Sat. This is one of the after hours clubs, so best times are after 12 to early in the morning. However they charge 100rmb after 12 or 1am. Before then it is free. Not much Table Culture.

Also as a note: Cab fares should NEVER run higher than 30-40rmb (Avg. 20-30rmb at night) from most of the clubs and pubs. Don't be fooled into paying 100+
I personally recommended No. 88, but that club had its last opening weekend on 22-23rd of Feb. one of the most fun clubs, with Chinese dance performance, Singing and Dance Acts etc. Lots of chilled locals and expats looking to party. Unfortunately it is closed.
