So, does anyone have any great Mandarin/English translation apps or services you recommend for communicating with WGs?
I use iTranslate most of the time which I find better than Google's translation app almost all the time.
I also use Pleco which gives character by character definition - also helped me understand why Chinese to English is such a difficult task for an App.

My usual situation is that I am sitting with a WG who speaks no English and while I know I can probably have a decent fuck with no mutual language beyond my interest in sex and her interest in money, I know that often building a rapport of shared interests or humor can make the session a lot more fun.  Especially true with younger girls who haven't much experience with a foreigner.

WeChat - I've been using this a lot both to keep contact with a hottie and to find new ones.  So a lot of cutting and pasting between WeChat and my translation program.

Quality of iTranslate and Google is really a long way from very good.  Any one know of something better?

In fact, there are times I would pay for a live translator to interpret for me.  Anyone used some kind of web chatting or instant messaging service that charges by the minute?

I highly recommend paying for the Pleco OCR.  It's very useful for reading signs and menus.

DianHua and DH Audio work okay if you need offline translations.  I have also tried SayHi, but I don't use it anymore.

Google translate can work well, but you need to understand the structure of the Chinese language.  I'm not going to go into the finer details here, but if you write your English with the right Chinese sentence structure it generally comes out okay.  

At the same time, there are just some common words used in Chinese and some that are not commonly used.  For example, in English you might say "Can I take a picture?"  but for the proper translation you should ask "Can I shoot a photo?"

Always translate back the results you get from the software to make sure it still makes sense.  And pay attention to how the messages you receive are written.  

Finally, remember that if the girl speaks Cantonese she may write some words differently, and your software (set to Mandarin) might give you strange translations.

I've used all of those and in combination with each other. I also like sayhi translate for the fact that is it easier for the girl to talk than type. I find that it is pretty good with translations but not perfect.

The thing I like about google translate is the history so it is good when the girl types back and I translate it to english, it it is kept for reference.

There has to be a better and easier way to do this, but I do not know of it. That being said i have been able to communicate quite a bit with sayhi and google translate. If I don't understand those I go to pleco. I have itranslate but haven't used it much. Ill give it a try. It seems a number of apps just use google translate as their translator anyway.

I also find that the learning chinese apps work well for basic things, like codegent apps learn chinese or mind snacks premium game app. You don't need to play the game but there are a lot of basic things to at least get the ball rolling. You can just pick your question and it will play in chinese.

For 80% of things I find google is inferior to iTranslate, so they must be using a different data base or an enhanced one.

Surprised that this hasn't been cracked yet since of all the language pairings, English/Chinese has got to be one of the biggest unmet needs.  English/German is child's play.
I am wondering from some of the Chinese speakers/readers, does perhaps the English to Chinese work better than Chinese to English? I get back all sorts of weird replies like, "peach blossoms open hearts running way" when I say "I will miss you"

Actually a few girls have told me to just write in english so there may be some truth to that.

Chinese is a weird language. From what I know, almost nothing, they have a lot of description words they use and context is key, such as green and life being the same. But maybe someone else can say more to this. I may be just blowing smoke.

Have you tried using iTranslates voice app?

LOL, machine translation remains in its infancy; needs a lot of AI to make it work.

i have used jibbigo, which is a free, if u have internet
a downloadable version is for sale, which is useful if u dont want to use data overseas

i have used it in japan as well as taiwan
it has a voice feature but that is not something i have used too often

google translate is still my go-to translator
but if u are overseas and dont want to buy dataplan , jibbigo is the best option

Bear in mind that Thai and Vietnamese (and, if in the US, Korean and Spanish) are also very useful when dealing with WGs.

I've used Google Translate, and SayHi. Word Lens is good for written Spanish. I'm intrigued by Pleco, and will give it a try.
