I haven't seen too many Wanchai reports lately, and wondered how it's going (with all the bar closings and raids, etc.)

Has anyone gone to the new Hong Kong Cafe yet?  Man, I still can't believe NeptuneII is gone.  That place, like Fenwick's and Laguna before it, need to be enshrined in some global Punting Hall of Fame.  I have partied in a lot of places around the world, but these places, in their peak, stand-out amongst the very top.  A blast.

So, how's the scene lately?

Unfortunately I am not there anymore but I am in touch with one of the girls out of Neptune 3 and apparently it was dead last night and has been very quite lately. (since I left Neptunes profits have plummeted)

How do you know if the girls are working or just hanging out? What to look for?

Hong Kong Cafe is not open yet, and though I am a natural pessimist from casual conversations with girls and the Neptune 3 mamasan it doesn't seem like anyone is going to let it open any time soon. Sorry I don't have much more to offer as I don't want to grill people because I am just hanging out, but that is the general gist I've gotten from the scene.

Are you on Meth? TonyToro's posting is the number 1 article on this site (trust me this posting is what got me started punting) and I am sure I am not the only member indebted to him for it. I think you are a little too eager to "prove" your "experience".

Post #1 in the link refers to 16 bars and 1 street walker location. Around half the bars have either closed or changed hands now. In most cases the venue still exists and is still worth a look. By all means if you want to create an updated and very comprehensive version of the Wan Chai bar scene I am sure it would be welcomed. Bar closures, re openings and changes are discussed in detail throughout the thread. Add to it by all means...

However...

If you cared to read my post in this thread accurately you will note I directed the Bro who asked specific questions to posts #4 & #5 in that thread LINK HERE. I can tell you from very personal experience that posts #4 & #5 of that thread were very relevant early November 2012, Mid December 2012 & late March 2013. In fact I can say these 2 posts were as relevant then as they were the day they were written.

In answer to wanders original question wan chai still ok. Queen vic is jumping on Sunday afternoon, becoming the place to go more singles than before. Och is quiet but that because qv is much better ie staff clientele etc.

No sign of the new Hong Kong cafe opening it looks ready guess it a licence thing as Neptune lost there's due to over crowding.
