There is an entire section in the forum titled "MACAU". Read up on the FRs there.

hi guys I got a few questions

Macau is a pretty safe city right? any scams for tourists or anything I should watch out for? is the tab water there drinkable?

is it easy to cash out traveler's check in Macau? do they have those booth things everywhere

riding scooter in macau any different than pattaya? is it worse than pattaya? I plan to rent from  http://www.macauscooters.com/  and they want credit card info via their site. safe to give them the info or just get the bike in person when I get there?

I can have access to HKD much easier...I think I will just get that....they all take HKD in Macau right?

thanks guys

1) Is Macau a safe city? Yes, at least it has seemed incredibly safe to me, even as walking through underpasses alone at 3am on Saturday morning, or walking through the commercial docks, and so on. Scams? I've not heard of any, but I bet if you go looking for some you'll find them.

2) Travelers checks: I don't know, but there are "foreign exchange" booths everywhere.

3) Scooter: Taxis are cheap, so perhaps not worth renting a scooter, especially if you are going to be there in the summer when it is very rainy in both HK and Macau.

4) HKD - Accepted everywhere, 1 for 1 with the local currency (MOP). Officially, 1HKD is worth a couple percent more than 1MOP, so the uber-frugal might do better to convert. But the uber-frugal shouldn't be in Macau to begin with. I have only ever taken USD and HKD to Macau, and never had a problem with HKD. Not everywhere takes USD, but as I say, the foreign exchange booths are everywhere, and rates have always seemed fair to me.

I second mrfast's response -- look in the Macau section for a wealth of information. The hotel you stayed at (Golden Dragon) has a top-end sauna in it (18), but your experience there will very much depend on the time of day you go.

What I read from your posts is that you think Macau is some third world country with limited resources. I wanna dispel you of that notion.

Anyway the questions you ask not related to mongering - the wikitravel website does a good job of explaining macau.

Myself I never bothered riding scooters in Macau, preferring to take the casino shuttles or the cab which is relatively cheap

Wow, I didn't know Macau has scooters to rent. I remember the days when Macau had those mokes (dune-type buggies) for rent. Renting a moke for a day was one way to fill my craving to drive something after a period of time in HK. Owning a car in HK was expensive and not really worth it.

I think having a scooter in Macau is great for taking dates to the more scenic Macau places, beaches, villages, etc or for nice midnight rides. Nothing feels more romantic for girls than to have her arms around you as you confidently weave through the traffic of macau.

hi doghead can you please tell me some scenic routes for scooters? thanks!

ggherkin thanks a lot for your reply, I think I will use traveler's check in one of those foreign exchange places! thanks

hours for saunas? they are 24 hours right?

so you guys don't recommend renting a scooter huh? I like to travel freely and don't want to wait for bus. They do have parking spaces for scooters right?

What do you guys think about taking one of the sauna girl  as a tour guide for Macau? maybe they don't even know Macau they probably just there to make money and rarely get out? wonder how much should I pay them and if it it's safe, maybe they think you got money coz you are a tourist there, and will rob you?

If you partake of intercourse during a sauna I believe the time limit is 24 hours - but if for some reason you don't it's usually 18 hours. This depends on the sauna in question

I am sure scooters are a valid form of transport and if you so feel that it's your preferred means I don't think there's anything to stop you

Getting a sauna gal as a tour guide in Macau is tough - you are depriving her of her daily earnings but i guess it's up to you to negotiate.

hi guys for the locations of the saunas in this map...are they still current or old?

https://maps.google.com/maps/ms? ... 045b9dc1d0d52567ea2

I just want to focus at more popular saunas on that map, like darling1,2, sanada, sauna 18, or more if you got more time to check on other saunas thanks!

The stark reality is that even if your girl gets a test, other punters have been inside that girl since the test (perhaps several per day). So it is quite possible that she contracted a STD that will be passed on to you. Although the chances of transmission are always low, it is also fair to say that every transmission happens with a single sexual encounter.

So whether someone tells you they have been regularly tested or not, there's no escaping the inherent risk. Even porn stars, who are tested monthly and generally don't have sex with non-porn stars while they are active, occasionally come down with something, and occasionally it is something nasty like HIV.

If I were you, I would set my own standards, and stick to them. Hopefully, the standard you (and all the other punters) choose won't make things more risky for me, but I wouldn't count on it. I certainly wouldn't count on some sauna or club to keep me safe.

Reading what you believe, the only thing I can confirm is your thinking is naive bordering stupid - unless you're saying this to get a reaction

you need to brush up on your sex education ... the family planning asso. have courses in Chinese and in English for people like you and they're free

Some of us will say yes, and some of us will say no. And even condoms don't completely protect against certain things such as Herpes. Ultimately, when it comes to risking your life, as it does when having sex, driving, crossing the street, or eating at a restaurant, you'll need to make your own decision.

I think it may come down to this: If you are not compelled to have sex with strangers, you're better off without it, or at least only doing it with a significant other. But if you are compelled as so many of us are, you'll be willing to take a little more risk. And don't be fooled - there are a lot of bareback punters out there. Most of them get away with it. But not all.
