Clinics / Private GP?

Hi need some help.

I am planning to get a checkup and want to ask a few questions.

1. Do all local private GP's do mens health checks? or would I need to go to a clinic?
2. Can I just walk in and make an appointment and get checked up on the same day? or would I need to make a booking via the phone only?
3. Just say I get checked, do they call you again in a few days to get the results?

Please help, thanks.

difficult to answer these questions ...

different GPs have different facilities, some have their own lab, most will send out your samples and it all depends on what check up you need ... if its something like a complex scan or MRI then the GP will refer or send you somewhere else

but you will get your results probably by through another visit to the GP at an appointed time.

If you are only looking for an STI check then the government clinics are fine.  They are free, fairly quick (results for the Clap while you wait, the rest within 2 weeks usually) and completely confidential.

I've used the Wan Chai clinic several times and found the doc's and medic's non-judgemental and efficient.

I've had a couple of check-ups over the last year (complications with kidney stones make some of the symptoms of STDs a little similar).
I tried the govt clinics but I've always found the appointment and waiting times to be a little long.
Depending on how you're feeling and what your budget is, MenHealth provide a nice service - 2 locations, one in TST and the other in Central.
I always hits TST for fear of bumping into someone I know.
The only downside is the STD Dr is separated from the others on premises, so it can be a little obvious what you're there for.
They email the results to you if you prefer and I've found them to be helpful, non-judgemental and quick.
YMMV

Hello Kevlar,

I have tried the government clinic in Kwun Tong before.  I believe it is called Yung Fung Shee Clinic in English =) if you have HKID very easy to get into and just go a bit earlier so you do not have to go through wait times.  MensHealth provides nice service.....but it is definitely really expsneive rather than a free check at the government office.  However government office only gives the standard ones such as syphilis, HIV, gonnoreah, chlaymidia and a herpes test through a culture....not the most accurate but w/e it gets most of the job done.  If you want other ones such as using blood to test it out, I suggest you go to the family planning association as they give great discounts and I think are subsidized for men to take.  =) results are pretty slow for both of them but in 2 weeks you should get your full results except for HIV which would take 3 weeks usually in government clinics =)
