Macau - Flying solo

okay, i saw the sticky for gathering groups for punting in Macau.  learning experiences and ideas from others sounds fun and i'll give it a try someday, but i generally like to fly solo during these jaunts.

flying solo though has one tremendous disadvantage - immense boredom!  so wanna throw out the question to hear what other bros do to pass away the non-punting time.  here's how i've handled it so far:

1-3 day trip:
Find a decent hotel convenient to 18, D1 and Rio.  Beds in 18 are hard as a rock.  Rio has better beds and a small pool and limited opening hours, but good enough for laps.   Couple of Portugese-Chinese restaurants near the Rio too, and it's comfortable eating there alone.

So the day goes as follows: morning/day time - exercise and/or go shopping at Venetian, City of Dreams, etc.; late afternoon, hit D1; after D1, it's early evening and i grab dinner at a Portugese-Chinese restaurant.  Alternatively, go to !8 or Rio and eat dinner there.  Take time to digest and lounge around at the spa.  When you're ready, hit the lineup and choose a girl for your second shot.  after finishing with the girl, head to rest area and get a foot massage or other service - whatever works for you.  by then it should be pretty late.  if you have the energy, go for the lineup again and try a 3rd shot (i can't).  Beware though, these places get really crowded late at night (esp. weekends) and bros start getting aggressive with each other, jostling to get a better view of the lineup.  i hate that.  i usually go back to the hotel and rest up for the next day and repeat (or depart town if I need to).

disadvantage: There's still going to be some downtime during these days, and you will feel a bit empty at times.

4+ day trip:
You cannot possibly do the same routine as the 2-3 day trip without going stir crazy.  You've got to make an arrangement with a girl to keep you company for at least part of this trip.  But if you're a non-Mandarin speaker, that's gonna be difficult.  Luckily, my Mandarin is survivable.

disadvantage: Can become quite expensive, cause you're buying out the girl for the day, and if you go shopping with her, she's gonna try to get you to buy her designer bags or the latest smartphone.  I paid HK$5000 to the girl I took out from Rio last night.  I think that might have been a bit generous, but she performed well and didn't ask me to buy her anything.

Really curious to hear how the other bros handle flying solo in Macau!

PS - Reception/Cashier area is under renovation right now (Jan 4, 2013).  Do not be turned off by that when you get off the elevator.  Everything beyond that is perfectly fine.

Bro,

Which reception/cashier area? 18, Rio or D1?

Where you coming from? HK? If not HK, my suggestion is to go over and check it out. If you're from HK and have a China visa, get over to Zhuhai. There's plenty to do there:

1) Legit massage
2) Cheap shopping
3) Go Karting
4) SNs
5) Touristy sites (if you're into that.. personally, I'm not!)

If you don't want the hassle of crossing the border there's still plenty to do in Macau aside from mongering:

1) Go Karting in Coloane
2) Touristy stuff
3) Go catch a movie at the Galaxy
4) If you want to do some good cardio sesh, rent a bike in Old Taipa and take a ride to Coloane and catch a drink at the Westin
5) Chill out at one of the many bars in between bonking sessions

My best advice, get an iPad!! I always thought it was a waste of money at first but after I got it, it's the best few thousand bucks I've spent. Sometimes when I have nothing to do I'd hit up a bar myself and play some iOS games, read a mag or book or watch a movie.

PS - You posted in the wrong section. Should be in the Q&A section.

I did a few solo 1 week trips a few years ago. I never negotiated any pricing and just asked the girl if they would like to hang out or have dinner before, after work or on their days off. I got lucky a few times and the cost was minimal for me the girls never asked for any money but I usually slip them something, ranging from 1000 and up for 1 over night or gifts in exchange That is not including food expense and gifts. (But it would depend how many days she spends with you).

I even went with a couple of girls on their day off to do visa runs in Zhu Hai a few times and usually spend 2 days and nights with them. Do a search on a few of my reports.

Another alternative is to head into Zhu Hai as it is so close and do some cheap shopping, Cheap KTV fun, and some less expensive saunas, mind you the saunas aren't as nice as Macau but if you're lucky gems can be found, or try to pick up civies in Zhu Hai I found it to be rather easy I got asked out a few times by the girls to go out, 1 was a girl who did facials in veggie massage place, and another was a veggie footie girl, both girls were very doable especially the facial girl who even offer to buy me dinner !! but i had plans meeting up with a sauna girl from Macau that trip.

Hope this helps, goodluck punting

I believe the Go Karting track in Macau has been shut down indefinitely... Last time I was in Macau might have been in April 2012 - we went to the track and it was definitely closed. Other forums for expats on the net seem to confirm this and their posts are more recent - however I could be wrong. As I am a huge Karting fan and would love to race, but want to set that expectation for OP that the place might not be open.
