Are you trying to figure out what hotels the agents tell you to go to? Don't bother.. half the mama and papasans can't speak cantonese properly... even locals have a hard time trying to decipher what they are saying over the phone.... I usually have to ask them to repeat themselves 2 or 3 times just to make sure they are saying the correct hotel name.. If in doubt, just ask the agents for the english name of the hotel, and most of the time they should know...

You've been here (in HK) before ... so you should know how to get around, you should also know
that if someone took the time (don't know who in their right mind would) to write the translations for you
you still wouldn't get the pronunciation right anyway ! Suggest you check the yellow pages and call the
27 hotels to ask them for their Cantonese name.

Are you saying that half the agents are not local Chinese? I speak Mandarin to all the agents, and I've yet to run across one who spoke Mandarin natively.

That would be great...I am usually at the Island or Kowloon Shang...that would be convenient

Of course, based out of there, their rate will probably triple

well, I dunno what they are then.. I speak cantonese with them, and a lot of them certainly speak cantonese with a heavy mandarin or some mainland dialect accent...

The whole world should speak English - solve all these language problems that people seem to have. It's gonna happen
eventually - just a question of time.
