Hello Everyone,

Will be going to HK and Macau in Dec, however, I am thinking of a side trip for about 3-4 days on the mainland.
Where would everyone recommend as a good city to go to for P4P and some sightseeing/shopping, but mainly P4P?
Preferably reasonably easy access from HK/Macau? I only speak cantonese and english. So language might be a problem.
I know I can get it in HK/Macau, but am thinking of tasting some mainland attractions

I would recommend zhuhai, direct ferry from HK
Plenty to do there on both front

Go to Mainland China Thread and look at it. I don't know where you come from, hopefully you realize China is very different from HK/Macau in terms of infrastructure.

I would recommend Changping, as would a lot of brothers. You won't get much shopping/sightseeing, but it's the p4p capital of china.

I would suggest Shenzhen and Changping.
You can also have good fun in Shekou which is just a short trip from HK on the ferry.

I'd say go to CP also. You can always take the train to go sightseeing on the days you don't feel like P4P-ING. Hahaha

CP or Shenzhen for P4P and easy access from HK.  However, there is almost no sightseeing there.

Zhuhai has a little more to see right along the water and is very easy access from Macau.  Also very good/cheap shopping.  But P4P is not so obvious.  You would have to study up first.

I'm looking to book an overnighter at a hotel in a poon capital like Changping, but does anyone know whether those hotel folks would look the other way when you bring in an obvious piece of p4p ass?

No man, they won't look the other way - you'll be stared at the entire walk from the Lobby to the Elevator. Just like the other hundred guests staying in that hotel

In some 4-5 star hotels in China, if you bring in another guess after around 11:30pm, they are NOT allowed. While other places you have to register your guess after 11:30pm to get in.  While other places, walk in together with your guess and show your room card. In smaller hotels, they don't care who gets in.

On the other hand, in Chang Ping these tihings arei never done 99.99% of the time.

I have a Caucasian friend sometimes after picking a girl, ask the girl to meet him at his hotel room. He never walked or go back to his hotel together with the girl. He is an older guy, who thought looked weird if he was walking down a street with a Chinese girl three times younger than him. He felt it would draw too much attention and maybe from LE.

For sightseeing, since you speak Cantonese, you should have NO problem getting around Southern China. Now for Northern China is a different story, Mandarin is needed.  Go to Gaungzhou, Shenzhen, Huizhou or Zhuhai for a two to four days.

I'd probably vote for Shenzhen or CP for your mongering needs and for shopping, I'd just shop in HK, much cheaper, especially if you're looking for brand names like Prada, LV, Chanel
