US Navy in HK this weekend

So I just heard from a colleague that the US Navy is in town.  I've never been to WC when the boys in blue are in, but is it insane there?  Or is it a place to avoid because the girls are more predatory than usual.

There here already have been since tuesday - usually see most of them here during the day, they have to be back at the ship for 10pm or stay out so large numbers go home before the curfew.

I don't mind them, they are well policed and usually good fun - plus the bonus is that loads of working girls fly in when the boats are in town which usually leaves after a few days while the girls stay for 2 weeks to a month.

Yeah just they usually ok but best to keep your wits about you - you can have problems with getting possessive with girls eg a girl know is with one and comes to say hi toyou or u talk a girl whilst a navy boy in the loo.

But 95% ok.

Also you have to be aware many of the navy boys and gals have their family members fly over and meet them in HK. So make sure you don't flirt with someone's gf/wifey.

Good to avoid WanChai

When the Navy is in town it is best to avoid WanChai.  A sausage fest in many bars, prices go up and sometimes overly aggressive sailors with a little too much sauce in them.

The Navy doesnt advertise their port schedules very far ahead -- so I dont think many working gals know enough to fly in for it.

Hopefully gone by sunday. Can't see it being more than 3 days from wednesday.
Tuesday- ship chores before heading out. Most should sart their shore leave by Wed. I certainly was never set free for more than 72 hours while serving. 4 days of tax payer funded carousing is enough.

Actually I quite enjoy WC when the navy's in town ... very lively, even the smallest places are packed, party atmosphere ...

but go to watch, not to compete

ah the US navy is back in town again...i posted this before but some useful info about the Navy in HK for those that didn't know..

"The United States Navy conducts 60-80 port calls a year to Hong Kong. This program has continued uninterrupted since the reversion of Hong Kong to PRC sovereignty. Port calls to Hong Kong contribute to U.S. overseas presence in the region, allowing for minor maintenance and repair of transiting ships. Continued ac-cess to one of the world’s premier quality-of-life ports contributes positively to sailor retention and also serves as symbolic support for the continued autonomy of Hong Kong as called for in the 1984 UK-PRC Joint Declaration, and Hong Kong’s Basic Law."

so basically they visit HK to increase their presence in the region of china/hk.

this is pretty interesting aswell...

"A 1985 Joint Declaration between the United Kingdom and the PRC provided for the restoration of Hong Kong to the PRC in 1997. Consequently, the British Naval complex on the north side of Hong Kong Island, known as HMS Tamar, was turned over to the Hong Kong government by 1997. The adjacent mooring basin was scheduled to be filled, with a target completion date in the year 2002. By common agreement, US Navy ships visiting Hong Kong are assigned to the Pun Shan Shek Anchorage. Local harbor authorities report the bottom to be mud with very good holding quality. Several other anchorage areas exist in the harbor. "
