best place in TST to get internet to look up 141?

I'm looking to do a quick HG stop in TST between a  hr layover in HKG...what's the best place to hop in and get internet access so I can look up some #s and make some calls?

Thanks!

1 hour layover? I dont think you'll have time to get to TST, go for a punt, and come back to HKIA to make your flight

NYC,

Assuming you've got a multi-hour layover then I'd say CSL or PCCW is reliable (that's data over your phone) and you can get these on the train on the way into the city.  The last couple of times I've been in HK PCCW has even been offering a free, 1 day trial for data.  It's a bit of a pain to get connected but it works.

Once you're in the city the place is just mobbed with Wi-Fi hotspots.  Just about any coffee shop will hook you up.  And, of course, the Wi-Fi is free in the airport.  It is cumbersome to sign in (you have to select PCCW on your WiFi connection, then open your browser and accept the terms before surfing), but it is easier to surf 141 on your laptop than your smartphone.

For the most part, for a short stay, I'd just use my international roaming phone and pay the higher data charges.  However I don't know how the local agents are with answering international numbers (they likely aren't going to call you back on that), but SMS should be just fine (I book by SMS 9 times out of 10).

I didn't do it.  Really I didn't.

Seriously bro, roaming charges are seriously a quickfire way to accumulate an extremely high phone bill - which obviously isn't recommended.
I wouldn't say HK is wired with loads of easy-to-use Wi-Fi hotspots, especially not for someone on a multi-hour layover. I have PCCW & tried several times to connect to their Pccw hotspots and it's a pain to do, seriously.

McDonald's is one of the best 'free' hotspots, although only 20mins.

Correct. Its about 25mins airport train ride to kowloon station, which is still a bit from TST.

Meaning you need at least 45mins to get into TST, taking into account that airport trains dont run as often as the normal MTR trains and walking up and down platforms and stairs.

i had the same exact problem while wandering TST.  all the "free" hot spots require some form of payment (the coffee spot wanted me to buy a membership card and pccw just doesnt work).  just program a few numbers on your phone to dial when you get there...make sure you have plan A B and C in case the agents come back busy.  thats the solution that worked for me.

My bad- i didn't mean my layover was an hour- i have 5.  I still feel rushed though.  I didnt realize McDonalds offer wifi so that's cool since they're everywhere....what about coffee shops- are there specific ones I should look out for?

You have two chances to get into HK for a punt and back to HKIA in an hour.  That is fat chance and no chance.!!  lol.   The high speed train takes 20 minutes each way to Kowloon. IMO, I think you need at least 3 hrs.

Use the free Wi-Fi in the airport when you land, and since you'll be booking at most 5 hours of roaming charges (there's only so much data a guy can download in 5 hours!) don't be shy about using your mobile to find an address or whatever.  What you're short on is time, paying a hundred bucks in roaming so you can blow your wad in HK in a 5 hour layover is money well spent!

Actually I don't think Pacific Coffee is free wi-fi. They have computers to use usually, but wi-fi is paid.
Starbucks you can usually get 20 mins free
Charlie Brown Cafe on Cameron Road and Coffee Crema in TST East has free wi-fi
Caffe Habitu also has free wi-fi. You can find them at Miramar and The One

Some shopping malls have free wi-fi too like i-Square
The One has 30 minutes free-wifi

Also with the government free wi-fi that you find in the parks/gardens, you cannot access 141.

Yeah, I've tried in the past
It falls under indecent, obscene or inappropriate content... or something along those lines...

Why dont you do the research beforehand, and note down all the locations/names/numbers/price then get on the phone once you hit HK?

2 reasons:
a)  can't afford to have my SO find it!
b)  dont know how often the girls/pps/mms change #s and availability.

No, I am specifically talking about the free wi-fi the government provides at parks/gardens/sports facilities.
For the most part, it does not affect free wi-fi provided at coffee shops or shopping malls
