Hanging Out in HK...

So I'm back in HK, and may have one, maybe two nights free. I'm sure I will hit a sauna or something, but need some stuff to do.

I'm by myself for one or two nights... no colleagues, but curious as to what to do. Nightclubs, bars, etc... would be fun and what I'm looking for, but any ideas on where a guy can go if he is by himself? Money isn't really the HUGE issue, although I probably would rather not spend ENORMOUS amounts of money, a few grand is cool, but any ideas? Also, I only speak english - no Cantonese or Mandarin.

Please help a bro out that is all alone?

The typical path for a guy in your shoe would be. Lan kwai fung then later of to Wan Chai. Plenty of friendly people. If an attractive Asian girl seems a little "too friendly" start talking price. ;)

My hotel is really close to Lan Kai Fung... but is it a place where going solo is cool? Most places like that area that I'm familiar with, a guy goes out there with a bunch of pals.

Also, any particular places in that area that you would recommend that would be good for me? And what time does the action start... early (8pm to 10pm) or late (after midnight)?

That depends man. If you looking to pick up dont bother till midnight. let the girl get a little buzzed. Just to hang you can goto Stormie's or bulldogs. Lan kwai fung PUMPS on a Saturday.
It also depends how up market you are. In nice upper but middle ground place is Tivo on Wyndham but it does get busy. Like any place its up to you how much fun your going to have a single guy. Be friendly and people will be friendly.

If you want to pick up ladies (WG), then it is Wanchai. Lockhart road,etc...too many disco's where WG hang out. Be careful and dont let you drinks get spiked...

Cool. Thanks for the advice. I would be looking for upper market places. I'm a fairly open, friendly outgoing person, so I'm sure I could meet some folks. I'll check it out. Any additional advice about specific places would be great. Especially if you could give me an idea of exactly where some of these places are.

None of the bars i mentioned were low places..but stormies and bull dogs are pub type places.
Stauntons on the escalator is good and friendly (Stanton st and the escalator)
Tivo is on Wyndham st near the LKF hotel. Finds in the LKF hotel is good as well. You cant really go wrong. Just have a walk around and get the feel. They are all close together.

1 gist.......book a hotel gal starting at 8pm or 9pm where u can take her out for fine dining and such. Do whatever u want, karaoke, partying, clubbing or shopping (dun do this!!! but if u do, she will want to have ur child later - kidding!!). Now this is escort feel....

My rough estimate will be 6/7 times the price or if this is too much.....for the 3 times amount, u shld have the gal starting at 12.30 midnite......may negotiate a bit for earlier take out.
Now, at least u are certain to pick up a gal for the nite...less hassle to hunt in pubs/clubs.
