Currency for Macau

Bros,

Because I used a package on my last trip to Macau I did not even realise that Macau uses different currency to HK, is HK money readily accepted in Macau (I know there is 1-2 % difference). I intend to spend two days in Macau on my next trip so I want to make sure I am prepared.

Do 18/D1/Rio take credit cards ?

Happy New Year to all !

Yes, Macau accepts HKD on a 1 to 1 basis.

Does Macau accepts RMB too?

The Hongkong currrency used to be accepted in Shenzhen but I was requested to pay in RMB during a trip; and the RMB is also accepted by some establishments in Hongkong

To my understanding, everyone wants RMB in Zhuhai too, where in the past everyone wants the Hongkong dollar

I had the same experience during a trip to Shenzhen in Sept. They'd rather have the RMB. Makes sense, seeing that 1 RMB is now worth 1.067 HK$. The Chinese realize that the HK$ is tied to the US$ and that the RMB is under pressure to increase in value against the US currency.
