Are they special? or have any special meaning?

The red string bracelots are for good luck. Usually have a jade stone or dome other precious stone attached to the bracelot.

The colour of red in Chinese culture means good luck. This is why we have red packets during Chinese new year as a symbol of good luck in the coming year. Gold symbolises wealth and happiness.

Girls get around this by wearing jewellery in those colours for this reason alone.

I've had an in depth chat with a PRC WG and its interesting how the whole process unfolds

Most of them are literally from the North, farm type, poor and trying to go to HK to make the quick bucks for a whole assortment of reasons.  Family, they are poor, etc.

Usually they are introduced to the trade by a fellow friend, sister or people in the industry and the costs (photos, travel visa are footed by the company but had to be repaid by the girl at the end of their trip)

These girls on average don't make a lot cause its a 60/40 split on the rate advertised which the breakup going to the company / themselves.  So for the bro's out there if you get good service or feel some kind of chemistry then do tip well as they appreciate it.

Those pictures are pretty important because it determines whether they'll get more customers and less and for them the more customers = more $$$.

I see the red string thing as a token of luck and wealth.  In a sense these girls are probably traveling to HK for the very first time and they are literally there for work. So they'd need all the luck and prosperity they can get.  Cause god knows there's so many things that can and could go wrong.

glad to see you get it with the pricing and tipping... ...fact is we are getting great quality at prices that are more comparable to canada, the us, japan and europe, but not necessarily in comparison to china and other places in the far east...

bottom line: many foreign based visitors to these shores see this and realise they are getting a bargin in comparison to their own home turf,  which along with their fantasies of subservient oriental gals forget they are human beings with their own stories also...that they need to be respected as such while delivering the service they are being paid for...unfortunately tere are many wankers around who think otherwise...

yes, tip well when there is enthusiasm, good service and for whatever good that comes out of each experience but also as a rule of thumb, do NOT over tip either as you would ruin things for everyone and also corrupt the gals's minds who think these people have so much and don't care about money, which is not true...

I dunno bout the bracelet thing, but it sure cultural to the gals.

Well spoken and agreed.  There's definitely a lot of value if you were a visitor to HK. No other place in the world where you'd get all this fresh young girls.
