Familia nobre has been my first and favorite sauna in Macau and has held a place in my heart since 2014. Haven't been to Familia Nobre since pre-covid and was pleasantly surprised as I ascend the stairs to newly renovated interiors. Everything looked and felt new and modern. I quickly showered and dressed eager to see what's become of the main lounge.

As I walked in, you quickly notice the red lazyboys have been changed out for newer looking grey ones. The layout of the lounge has changed as well. All the chairs now face the wall where there are large wall sized screens (or projections) where the local shows are playing. As I settled in, I quickly realized that I am not a fan of this setup. It's harder to see the ladies who work the floor and therefore harder to scout out who I wanted for my massages. The floor ladies looks pretty old and chubby. I pretty quickly settled for a shoulder massage from the only cutie currently working and ran through the rest of the menu she offers. Mean while, I observed the thigh massages happening in the lounge as opposed to in the private room.

Maybe it's my luck or timing, but while I was there, there were no showtimes. Selection is now done all the way in the back, past the eating area and after the left turn. Girls now stand on either side of the corridor and you move through the gauntlet and make your choice. I caught my eye on a korean model and quickly made my choice as there were 7-8 other bros shopping.

Service in the room was methodical with the signature Familia Nobre quality control. The girl was hot af and her body was fire. It checked all the boxes but leaves you feeling like it was nothing memorable. Her complete lack of English or Chinese makes her seem more distant and even more methodical. All communication went through a little translator gadget which really hurts the vibe...

Perhaps at this point, I was already reminiscing the Familia Nobre of old so my perception may be biased. Familia Nobre used to feel the most personal of all the saunas I've been to in Macau. But now, with the changes, it felt less personable and geared towards churning as many mainlanders as possible through the system.

Maybe it's me, but FN has gained some luster but lost a lot of bluster.

The next day, I decided to check out Excellent Sauna and that was a great decision. Review to follow!
