Going BB in a tropical country with poor delivery of medical services like ID, TH, DR, etc..is just asking for trouble. Let's be clear about that before proceeding.
Back in the day, we went through this bs with the WHO and Thailand. If the WHO's numbers were correct, Thailand should have been depopulated by now. If this story were true, you'd be having a seriuus HIV outbreak in AU.
Pennells is apparenrtly an award winning journo...but there's very little fact checking done here, nor does he tell us where he gets his numbers from. But it's always a mneymaker for the MSM to tell the public having sex is scary. This story eas writeen in 2012. If Pennell's numbers were anywhere near correct, thete wiuld be close ot no brothels in ID because almost all the grls would be either too sick to work or dead alrady.
Here's something else to consider...BB services have long been publicly advertised in AT, long been in DE but only publicly advertised more recently, and quite a few US providers are startin to advertise them. By comparison...there's no money for these NGOs if they don't pump up the numbers.
After 35 years or so, HIV is still primarily a gay man's/IV drug users disease and you either have to be very unlucky, or have to work very hard to get it.
