It sounds like the original poster is an American....

If you are an American with an account at Bank of America, just exchange money at Bank of America in Hong Kong. You will NOT be charged any premiums nor fees as long as your bank account is big enough, they'll waive all those damn fees.

Tell the taxi driver this address:
Bank Of America Tower
12 Harcourt Rd, Hong Kong

Or just get out of the Admiralty MTR (subway in American-speak) station and walk NW on Chater Rd. The Bank of America skyscraper will be on your right. It is HUGE. You cannot miss it. This is what it looks like:
