Yeah, pretty much this. I'm from SEA and can't speak a single word of Mandarin or Catonese. But I am able to monger pretty fine in HK with the help of GT. If you're White and can speak Chinese, it's definitely a plus point. If you're Black or Indian, it will be extremely difficult for you.
