My experiences in Thailand, the Philippines and Malaysia have been perfectly fine. I don't fall in the stereotype and make it pretty obvious. I make sure I take care of myself, look sharp, smell nice and don't act aggressively/cheap/rude. And I never had a problem.
Mind you, if your looking around and you see an ad online with "no foreigners" or "no Indians" I just pass and go on to the next. Same is with girls that prefer Chinese, Koreans, ect. It sucks if it's your perfect girl but just move on, there are more fish in the sea. And usually, with an IRL meeting, and with a smile and some time, you will get the chance to show you are different from the stereotype. After that you have a good conversational starter, bashing the stereotype Indians (and others). Just have fun with it.
Probably helps that I'm actually not from India (born in Holland, Indian/Suriname descent) and have a western upbringing. But know that first impressions are the most important. Show and act that you don't fall within the stereotype. And just move on from girls that are stuck on the stereotype. They probably have a reason to have it. I have heard some stories for different girls about their own experiences and I have seen the stereotype myself. You can't blame a girl that she goes for the, from her perspective, "safer" or easier option. | |
