Booking LH is possible if you cannot read Japanese and know basically zero Japanese --- but it's far easier if you either can read/speak Japanese or already have been personally walked through the steps for a given hotel in person.
A few you pay in the room (automated machine) after selecting the room/time from the board in the lobby and others LH you pay the at the front desk after selecting the room/time from the board in the lobby --- the length of the "stay" you're paying for can vary a bit by hotel, that will be listed.
It's kind of guess and check the method if you cannot read anything or you don't know that hotel's process.
Hotels will have a sign if they have free-wifi, some you can only get reception in the room.
You can contact the shop via Line etc once in the room. the staff is English as a second language, but all are proficient.
