All of the above works for me. I use Google translate but typing rather than voice . It is cumbersome to copy Google translate output into the chat or SMS function but it works. I'm to the point as well "meeting please today at 4:00pm. Clean polite foreigner"
I usually get a response. To save them any surprise or last-minute GDS issues, I tell them foreigner, and say specifically "white man" (some of them don't like Indians or Africans). Even though I text them in Chinese I always get the same response (paraphrase) "please understand I don't speak English". I advise I am patient we will have no difficulties communicating. Once I arrived my penis does most of the talking anyway.
