Not sure what the problem is. I use Google Translate all the time to IM girls in Chinese and Spanish. I've had some pretty involved exchanges in Chinese and it seems to work. I started using it because a girl I see when she is in town uses it with voice input. If you translate English to Chinese and back to English you do seem some strange things showing up, but it hasn't been a problem.
Google translate seems to work much better than the translation app that Apple has. Any other recommendations about the best translation apps?
