Sometimes the parties can be a little more expensive if its a special event or a particularly nice venue. For example, I attended a party during hairy crab season and the host bought a load of hairy crabs for people to eat so the fee was a little bit more expensive (I think it was $1,300 if I remember correctly). They also sometimes have parties in fancier places like a mansion they've hired and that also makes the fee a bit more expensive. I never attended those parties though.
Each person is also expected to a bring box of condoms and put them down on a communal table at the party.
