I personally think how long it takes it directly a physical health thing and a lot of mental state.
As a preface, I'm not physically fit right now (I'm working on it). When I was younger (and more fit), I could literally hold a position and rhythm better and longer before I get tired. I've also tried the PC muscle/Kegel thing and it does help me last longer physically.
Mentally though,
I find on the days I am stressed, I tend to finish much faster (5-15 minutes max) and the finish isn't as happy. I've noticed that when I'm also stressed, I'm mentally distant. I know I've got a girl with me but it's like I still feel the stress and pressure and end up racing to the finish line.
On the days I'm happy or generally in a positive mood, I can go for 20-30 minutes of just punting. I guess part of this is when I'm less stressed, I can focus more on what's happening and I can pace myself better. I can stop, switch it up, enjoy a different view, cope a different feel, taste if I can, and most of all hear her change how she sounds. Overall more satisfied with the finish too! For me, I guess it's less about the finish and more the journey We all know where we're going anyway, I'd like to make the most of how we get there. | |
