Sorry to hear about your rotten apple experience, but you basically made your bed when you agreed upfront to pay 6000. In this economy, it's an absurd amount, and you painted yourself as an easy mark.
Due to Covid, there are virtually no customers, so for freelancers in Bangkok (meaning basically every girl now, since entertainment venues are closed), the going rate is 1000 ST, 2000 LT. Zero tourists coming in, very few expats around, plus most Thai guys are afraid to shag due to Covid. It's a "name your price" environment. You can offer 1500 ST and 3000 LT if you're feeling really generous (or prefer not to negotiate hard), but anything more and it's inviting them to take advantage of you.
Online, if you ask them, the girls will quote you an absurd price hoping you'll bite, but it's better to make an offer yourself and stick with it. A few months back, I had a hot Philippina who said she usually goes for 3500, but was really keen on my 1000 offer, didn't even try bumping it up a nominal amount. I've had girls on Sukhumvit (ok looking) basically beg me to go with me for 500 baht ST. Times are that dire.
In addition, these days, it's unwise to make a deal on an LT upfront. Much better to indicate you want an LT, but negotiate both an ST and LT rate, so after the first pop you have an option to either kick them out or continue.
