However, when I got to the corner in front of my hotel, I was approached by a man offering me "xiaojie." Knowing what that means, I nodded and said that I wanted it, and he started laughing his ass off and saying something about me to the other people milling around on the corner. I figured he'd just pulled a joke on me and I was about to walk away when he was joined by a woman who said, quite upfront, that they could hire a girl to come to my room for sex. Okay, no euphemisms here.
The process was a bit nerve-wracking. I followed them across the street, and about a half a block down. We stayed on the main street, but walked past a police box, where I almost ditched them a second time. They got out their phones and started texting furiously, presumably trying to find a girl. While they did this, I haggled with the mama, bringing her offer of 1500 RMB down to 1000. Keep in mind that we're just standing in a parking lot, adjacent to the main street this whole time. Eventually the girl shows up - the mama asked me to pay her the agreed-upon sum of 1000 RMB right away, along with a tip. I gave her an extra 100. She counted the money, then it was back to my room with Nina.
