I think it's more like 99% do it for money and the balance do it because they like sex with strange men, or because they are bored or want to do something out of the ordinary. Also think about those which don't really fall into the category, for example what I'm sure many of the Honey Girls or part-timers who may have real careers, boyfriends, and families. It's probably extra money but in those cases they may enjoy the work some. Also some of the SA participants who want some action but are happy to have it come and go, perhaps when cash gets short or between boyfriends or real full-time jobs.
They are to be sharply distinguished from what I call the "lifers", many of whom are world-famous and occupy various places, inter alia 5/F Phoenix in Causeway Bay, Kam Bong in Sheung Wan, and similar buildings. There are a few exceptions to this, of course as many of them clearly do enjoy their work.
