4. What are the curtain bars like? Scammy? Worth it? How are prices? Any to recommend/avoid?
Just to build on what @JJJ37 wrote above, I think you should check out the curtain bars. You can find amazing girls in there... I got 90 minutes with a tiny little chick for $1,100 from a curtain bar - see link to post below. You can negotiate here, believe or not!

Yes, they are "scammy", unless you know that going in. They are tourist traps, as others have written, but if you know how to play them, they can be GREAT!!! Again, just like JJJ37 wrote.... One of my ATFs came from a curtain bar!
5. Can I go into the curtain bars for 1 drink and leave if I don't like it? Or am I going to be forced to pay some 5k bill by 2 massive bouncers just for entering?
You can go into a curtain bar and not have any drinks, look at the girls, and leave if you want. They would obviously prefer you come in, spend a ton of money, and take a girl, but I have only once encountered a unpleasant mamasan when walking in to check out the talent and then leaving without drinking or taking a girl with me. Most of the time they are INCREDIBLY nice. Treat them like you would like to be treated (with respect and kindness) and you will get the same in return 99.9% of the time.
My typical strategy for a night in WC is to hit the bars (HK Cafe, Escape, etc.) and if I don't find anything that I like I'll take a swing through a few of the curtain bars.
